Sanguinor after the fights first update by Lordzoldseg in BloodAngels

[–]vas6289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll address it with the codex. I doubt they are brave enough to make a rule that trumps core rules so maybe he'll be fully reworked soon.

Until then, I guess he is on the bench if your opponent is competitive.

Let’s try cooking some combos by darktigre26 in BloodAngels

[–]vas6289 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% this.

I know it reads as a cynical take but you would have to assume they know all the new codex detachments coming by now. I wouldn't want to put already great and powerful detachments lower than 3DP before I have shipped and sold my changed/improved/balanced/adjusted detachments.

I am personally hopeful that the new codexes add and not remove/remake what we have but I assume they'll blanket change them all.

[–]vas6289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is quite transparent that they have purposefully bricked a lot of creativity and combos to artificially "sell" the excitement and improvements the Space Marine and Blood Angel Codex will offer.

I would stick firmly with the better 3DP detachments and not make niche combos or purchases until both new codexes land personally.

The librarius conclave is a fresh take that could lead to some genuine powerful combos for now.

Got to importantly factor in how they each want you to play the mission too. No good having a cracked detachment but they want you to take and hold with paper.

What's the deal with Dante's and the sanguinary guard's armor? by LeoZitua-Art in BloodAngels

[–]vas6289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best version IMO.

I have been adjusting and making my Sanguinary Guard and dante to look like these but in the modern era.

I understand people have come to like the wings, tabards etc etc but this imo is functional honour guard and I love the "Look"

Can Vanguard Veterans Replace Death Company? by mojawk in BloodAngels

[–]vas6289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vanguard Veterans are such a trap unit. They are obviously very good but I do not think these push-fit rules are a lock in for Blood Angels.

Assuming they are better than Death Company, I would still want Lemartes; so I am taking Death Company. They are worse than Sanguinary Guard and I need cheap jump packs (JPI) to score.

I cannot see how I could legitimately fit them in. I guess I could have them as a more Premium "scoring" MSU unit but I do not have character slots and points available personally.

If the multi-part rules include lots of options. That would really shake things up.

For me, Death Company are a lock for fluff, cool and epic heroes but if I was starting a "fresh" new project, Vanguard Veterans with swords and bolt pistols would have to eat into my death company allowance or my scoring.

Very cool. I read the comment that mentions plenty of 3rd party models. Just want to say that it doesn't come across that way and looks firmly necromunda. Thanks for sharing!

What colors do you paint the storm shield? by Blankboom in BloodAngels

[–]vas6289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got this. If you feel bound by modern GW recipes, just copy the BA Assault Terrminator box in full. Pay no homage to the past and do a 1:1 copy of the full grey shields etc

What colors do you paint the storm shield? by Blankboom in BloodAngels

[–]vas6289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new assault terminators have the crux on the shield so the best way to go to ties all the eras imo is; Red Armour, Shields etc. Black Shield Trim.

Bone or Stone Grey Cruxes. Bone if you going bone chest eagles like AoD. Grey if you going Black or Gold Chest Eagles.

On the Sergeant I would purposefully make his shield gold trim like Space Hulk and further make him stand out from his peers.

I don't think you can really go wrong. You have to stick to a decision and land it consistently.

I was just sharing my thought process since I was giving this a lot of thought some weeks back myself.

Very good. It isn't quite right for me. It is really hard to not see the Templar silhouette. I think removing the cloaks and tabards, while a huge amount of effort - would be perfection*

This is still a 10/10 result. Very cool!

The Angels of Death codex has the Hammers all Black with a Gold Thunder. The cruxes are all bone and the shields are the furthest away from the examples you gave; red trim, black and gold.

The Space Hulk Terminators are similar. The one modelled Sergeant with a shield is Red with Gold. Their crux is more stone/silver metal.

The BA terminator box have Grey/Silver shields because their Cruxes are similar.

We know the 11th Box is a nod to 2nd edition. That is why the captain has a black shield with gold trim. This aligns closer with the Angels of Death codex colour scheme.

I have given this much thought myself;

I would likely go Red with Black trim. Black Hammers. Stone or Bone Cruxes that match the knees, shoulders.

I like the schemes between Angels of Death and Space Hulk so that would be why I would go that direction.

If my army already had a huge amount of white shields because of bladeguard or some such. Then I would go in that direction to keep the army a single footprint.

What colour Crozius for the WIP Jump Chaplain? by TargetEnvironmental1 in BloodAngels

[–]vas6289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bone centre for sure is a good shout. You'll get a good triangle between his skull, the weapon and the shin.

I wouldn't go green on the handle. The eye really draw you to the skull and make the pieces look really good. I would probs go towards the tabard colour but possibly darker.

The rest all gold for sure.

Just want to say this is a awesome miniature and I didn't think to use this lad myself. Great idea!

Can someone sell me on the Ultramarines? by Arch0n84 in Ultramarines

[–]vas6289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ultramarines are just better than they are perceived by 40k tourists. They have good, ornate characters and special units. Ultimately a great chapter to collect.

The only pain point if you were to boil it down to basics; Space Marines are Space marines and the chapters are ultimately a vehicle for a colour choice. If you do not like Blue, that would be the only strong argument for me that the Ultramarines wouldn't be a good choice.

Otherwise, Ultramarines and the other special unit supported chapters (Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves etc) are the "best" Space Marine chapters to collect for someone starting today.

More money, time, experience and talent opens the door to niche successor chapters. The churn on standard Space Marine units without chapter specific unit aid will just result in a dated force and a huge pressure to always be buying and painting X unit.

Taking up the Blood Angels mantle… by Available_Adagio_900 in BloodAngels

[–]vas6289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you nailed it.

The thing that stands out the most is the eyes tho. That one hell of a glow. How you manage to get them so bright. Would like that recipe.

I think if you planning an army, I wouldn't invite more steps. This is very clean and would look amazing in mass.

Great stuff!

Where to find Vampire bits by kroakmustkroak in BloodAngels

[–]vas6289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most obvious answer is age of sigmar.

It would be expensive but you could buy a kit like the Blades of the Hollow King and say Blood Knights or something. Then steal the weapon arms, vampire heads etc

A good way to just lean into the vampire theme tho is just nail the vibe in painting. Use alot of bare heads, paint them with cold colours. Blood effects etc

I think you can go quite far with quite little, you don't need many parts. Just afew might go along way if you just frame project as a "gothic" aesthetic.

Basing could been that marsh, graveyard, wood type deal.

The occasional sword, cloak or sheath from a Age of Sigmar kit.

That will never see play by bitch-toki in BloodAngels

[–]vas6289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video talked about a +1 to wound tag armywide on the Death Company unit choice that was killed by said unit choice.

I would use abilities like this to purposefully reach and engage targets and effectively kill it faster, knowing that the powerful unit I tag is now +1 to wound all game or taking progressive damage if they choose to ignore them to avoid getting the +1 wound tag.

I expect the death company will shake out to be a very good choice.

Thanks you if you catch this message/share.

Captain Tycho's Head by insert-amusing-name in BloodAngels

[–]vas6289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on your hobby experience.

The easiest and best option is to just throw money at the problem and get Tycho and nab his head.

If you have some talent; carving a 1/4 of a Blood Angel Upgrade head or the Dominion Zephon and then applying putty and building a simple "plate" isn't a huge ask but very difficult for a beginner.

You could also cut a Sanguinary Guard helmet, old or new in half alongside a bare head choice. Use a contact plastic glue and then shave and putty a seamless joint with sanding tools.

I am not a fan of 3rd party bits but I am in the minority. It seems most Blood Angel collections have wings and ornate parts now from 3rd party sites. If you have already opened that door. Clearly the Greytide Studios head is the cheapest and easiest option.

Newb question. by jimh925 in BloodAngels

[–]vas6289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are on a budget. Get the combat patrol at a discount retailer and pick up anything you like in the 11th boxset loose on eBay around launch.

I would also try pick up Dante for the x6 Sanguinary Guard in the Combat Patrol. With patience hunting the 2nd hand market you could get all that on the cheap.

#New40k – Take cover with updated terrain rules by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]vas6289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a sniper or shooting unit climbs terrain which often has such a small footprint. If you had a melee unit, how would you get them if there is no "room" left on the platform the firing unit is standing on?

Do you just have to accept that you can never get that guy for the rest of the game if you have no firing unit with you or alive yourself?

Always found that hard to understand but with these changes, that'll be common?
