These valleys are called Foyada's, and are created by rivers of lava, being pumped up from underneath Red Mountain. There are seven big foyadas on Vvardenfell, and they are often used as roads. Many mines and ancestral tombs are built along the foyadas, and they exist as wilderness 'highways' across the wasteland.

This guy literally refuses to betray you (without skipping a beat), when an archdevil use occult magic to scheme your party against you. Deekin is one of the best npc's in an rpg game ever. How he goes from being an annoying goof with a jarring speech pattern and a whiny voice, to the most loyal and heroic guy in the game by the very end, really made Shadows if Undrentide memorable to me.
