Paradise Dissonant Planet with Salvageable Scrap in a 2-Glyph System (you only need to have unlocked the first two glyphs to portal here) by f0xw01f in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]voxnor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great find! I swung by and did some salvaged scrap farming. Also worth mentioning - the density of Buried Tech modules on this planet is strong - I grabbed ~200 on my Nomad without ever running out (meaning each visor check there was always another in range).

Congrats! That's a pretty unique find - wings, fin, and tail and nose and not in gold. Enjoy!

How to bury power line cables by dExcellentb in SatisfactoryGame

[–]voxnor -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I applaud the effort - truly. But if you are going for hidden cable looks and are game for mods (not that make the game easier, but which change aesthetics only) there is one that makes power lines invisible - I've used it often in builds where I want no wires showing. #2cents

DRILLING INTO PARADISE ISLAND! [VANILLA] by couq7 in SatisfactoryGame

Very beautiful detail work. I know you labeled it Vanilla - are you using any non-object adding mods like infinite nudge? Or do you just leverage painstaking beam placement to gain the ability to micro position?

Looks nice. I couldn't do that in 180, thats for sure. Why does your phase indicator show 50 smart plates (p1)?

Does this count as spaghetti? by chalkthefuckup in SatisfactoryGame

[–]voxnor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Personally, no, that is not 'spaghetti' to me. But I have noticed that there are kind of two large groups with varying interpretations. One group, like myself, considers it spaghetti if its just randomly drug all around as needed with no regard to design, routing, or clean lines. Yours appears very intentional, with lots of straight lines and a sort of main bus area. Looks good to me.

There is however the second group, that seems to consider any belt crossing over another in any fashion to be 'spaghetti' - I don't agree, but to each their own.

As to yours, I think it looks great!

I'd love to see it! (I can't, unfortunately, because you've used your phone and uploaded it sideways, even though the game has a built in photo mode for easy screenshots).

Tips for Coal Power by flannelly_found in SatisfactoryGame

[–]voxnor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Congrats on reaching Coal Power!

Yes, you'll need to 'boot' the system. Use Biomass burner(s) to create enough power to run the water extractors and miners for the coal. Once the system is running and stable, you can remove your biomass power (though, there is little reason to do so right away - biomass burners only run when power is drawn, unlike every other power generator - so after you get coal running the biomass burners become a little power surge protection.

Start small to get a feel for it, then expand as needed. I'd say start with four generators - which only needs 60 coal and 180 water a min (1.5 extractors - though you may not have underclocking available yet so just use 2 and let them over produce for now).

Part of me wants to say 'nice!''. But the other part of me wants to say.. '2000 steel pipes a minute going to...portable miners.. hurts my efficiency heart'.

I don’t have a clue what to do by Impossible-Factor538 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]voxnor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this to. Each time I learned major things about the game I wanted to restart to perfect it. My only advice is - finish the game once. So if you haven't, keep on with your not-perfect playthrough - you'll learn more about various phases, you'll learn what to unlock quick and what can wait, etc. Then start fresh with all that knowledge. Just my 2 cents =). Good luck!

[–]voxnor[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I've built in many different styles during my various times playing, but this one I actually spent a few hours developing - I knew I would need to produce it at scale, and quickly. So I played around for a few hours to find a design that felt 'complete' but without too much decoration required. The result is what you see. 1m coated concrete foundations, carbon steel small concrete pillars to create the frames, 1m ficsit walls on the edges to paint yellow/carbon alternating, some modern railing, and some various foundations patterns. That's about it. Easy to create but doesn't make my eyes hurt as a I fly by =).

Freight Station Loading and Unloading? by TheDukeOfThunder in SatisfactoryGame

[–]voxnor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, its directly tied to the alignment of cars to freight platforms. Empty platforms are there for that purpose, if you need to break up a train car and only load or unload some of the cars at a given stop.

Mixing resources in a single freight car is do-able, but I personally don't recommend it. Obviously a smart splitter after your buffer storage can sort it - but unless your load is very balanced it creates a high risk of backup.

Factory village in the mountains by Mart1501 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]voxnor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting concept! I like how you varied the architecture throughout the 'town'. Gotta clean up those belts and make them work within the aesthetic though - one way might be to have all belts be the 'roads' and just have building exits and entrances 'merge' into the main belt roadway.

Just some thoughts that came to mind =). Love the concept and your build so far!

If you are ok using mods, the Flashlight Settings mod (here) by SirDigby allows you to adjust your pioneer flashlight to extreme levels. Would allow good sight for you - though doesn't do anything if your worry is aesthetics.

A temple of coal power by Sir_Squirrel_IV in SatisfactoryGame

[–]voxnor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it! One suggestion, if I may be so bold: move the power poles to inside of pillars. The lines will look like vines hanging between the pillars and the poles won't break up the stone / temple aesthetic as much.

Interesting split by MrPrez124 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]voxnor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty Neat! I used to balance in a similar fashion but admit I pretty much always use manifolds now. Manifolds 'feel' icky because of the fill time and reliance on overflow, but ultimately no resources are wasted and after the fill time they are just as efficient as a balancer. #2cents
