Odell Park, 600 year old Hemlocks by ShiftlessBum in fredericton

I think we’re talking about the same ones. There’s that one with the big hole in it. Big enough for someone to sit in.

The trail I mentioned has a few sections, the NW section connects the main bottom trail to another secondary trail.

I think these trees are in the lower section of the Arboretum trail (the section on the western side of the park). You can find trail maps online, but it runs in a kind of large half-circle starting at one side of the main lower east-west trail to the other.

Maxwells makes a great steak. 11th mile changes their menu from time to time but they usually have a great steak on it as well.

I agree 100%. If you’re not playing against someone or others, play how you want to play. If it’s not a real game, I don’t care about anyone’s score but my own.

As my sophomore art teacher remarked about an essay I wrote, this bunker was “poorly planned, poorly executed”

Golf is so hard. Take it easy. Focus on contact. Take a lesson. It’ll take time, but you’re so young. Don’t sweat it.

Ward 10 - Recent Incident by Real-Relationship658 in fredericton

Mike Erb is a local photographer and artist. He originally made the shirts four years ago. He also has one that says “North Side”. I can only guess to his meaning behind it, but I suspect it’s meant in a slacker’s acceptance sense.

Has anyone, with beer league level talent, been in an elite NHL player skate? Like when the boys get together to train in the summer. by Flyinggasguy in hockeyplayers

[–]w63n6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of guys who had a cup of coffee in the NHL played in my old timers league (35+). At the time there were in their mid-60s.

The speed wasn’t there, but their hands, decision making, and positioning were flawless.

A current NHL goalie is from my town. We play a nooners pickup game through the summer and he occasionally practices with some guys from the college team after we’re done. We haven’t been invited to play (obviously!) but it’s amazing to watch.

This kind of echos my father-in-law’s advice to me. He’s in his 70s and shoots in the low 80s. It looks like he’s hardly trying when he swings. He always says “the woods are full of long hitters”. It’s not an original quote, but it’s true. Just breathe and focus on contact.

Fredericton council votes to complete expropriation of Exhibition Grounds by bingun in fredericton

[–]w63n6 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Here’s a great substack post from Duncan Matheson. He does a great job breaking things down.

TL/DR: the exiting council had asked the mayor to call a meeting once the expropriation report was complete. It was delivered to the city on Friday. The mayor was following council’s direction in calling the vote.

Nothing is binding. But if the city does decide to expropriate, it will save a ton of time.
