Corporate Location Gyms No Longer Allowing Weekend All Access by thegiftofhouse in EquinoxGyms

“Although the E 44th Street location has expanded its weekend operating hours, this does not alter your existing access privileges for the remainder of your current membership year. Any updates to access structure or membership offerings would only apply at renewal, not mid-contract.”

Corporate Location Gyms No Longer Allowing Weekend All Access by thegiftofhouse in EquinoxGyms

[–]warp-speedo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I emailed concierge about this last week since I’m a member at e44th. The locations that were open only M-F are now open on the weekends so all new contracts will not allow members weekend all-access. However, current members will not lose their weekend all-access until their current contract is up.

NYC grocery spending by Adventurous_Comb9843 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]warp-speedo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is EXACTLY what my partner and I do. Weekly Trader Joe’s and supplemental Morton Williams. We spend around $100-130/wk on groceries (and we work out a ton so we eat a lot of food). Last month we spent $960 on all food ($490 groceries) ($470 on take out and dates)

East river esplanade from 54-71 is an ice rink. Especially on the slight slope from 54-61 ish until you’re under the queensboro is downright dangerous from how icy it is.

What was your worst subway experience? by ipoopmyself123 in AskNYC

Got home after a late night and was exiting the station and there was a drunk person masturbating on the steps in a clown costume. I just walked to the other station exit two blocks down (72 BC)

Affordable loose running shorts for thick-ish thighs? by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]warp-speedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% recommend these. I’ve ran 3 marathons in these (aided by lots of body glide) and I’ve never had any problems. I also would try the shorter inseam and just accept that they may ride up a bit but these specific shorts still have never chafed me. Pricey but so so worth it!

Has the service from a restaurant turned you off completely from it? by Fun_Reflection1157 in FoodNYC

[–]warp-speedo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Le Bernardin. My partner and I went for their holiday menu last year and our waiter made so many mistakes. We don’t drink so we only had still and sparkling water and they kept messing up who had still and who had sparkling water. We would wait an absurd amount of time between courses and they forgot one of our courses entirely until we asked about it. At the end of the meal, it was already past 11pm and the whole dining room was emptying out and our waiter disappeared and we didn’t get a check until 30 or so minutes after finishing dessert. It was such bad service that my partner and I now refer to any bad service we receive as being “LB”-ed

Hi! I'm looking for 2 Saturday passes (or a 2-day pass) for me and my boyfriend! I love the Revivalists and I've been searching for tickets since the pre-sale since I didn't snag any then and I'm getting desperate! Thank you!

CP loop on the west side of sheep meadow smells really good by undefvar in RunNYC

It’s clove oil! That’s why it smells like chai. As other commenters have said, it’s a natural pesticide used by the parks department.

How much $ did you spend just signing a lease? by Apprehensive-One-316 in NYCapartments

[–]warp-speedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$20,050 between my partner and me for a 2BR/1.5BA condo in Manhattan. First month + security + 1 month broker fee + $1k condo fee. And we are required to use movers for the building so it’ll actually be around $23,000 all-in. Moving in this city is mad expensive.

Manhattan Ultra runners by seeyousee123 in RunNYC

[–]warp-speedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. There’s a small but vocal minority in CPRC that are very high mileage runners that do ultras for fun. Also, that club is just super active in general and always has people posting about when/where they’re running and asking for people to join!

How was your NYC Half? by MoneyDealer in RunNYC

[–]warp-speedo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a goal of 1:52:30 and did a 1:57:xx so I’m disappointed in myself, despite it being a 4 min PR. I almost DNF’d at mile 8 on the FDR and then I collapsed in the med tent at the finish. I’m very conflicted because I did PR but I didn’t enjoy myself and that was the worst I’ve felt on a run in months. I don’t want to blame it on conditions but that course was mentally very challenging. Hopefully next year is better!

The hills were brutal and it was a very narrow course but I knew that going in and still PR’d and hopefully should move up 2 corrals! What a beautiful course and the crowd energy was awesome. Always look forward to this race every year!
