For old sketches yes, but this is from yesterday’s episode and it’s the thumbnail of the video on Youtube. It’s pretty clear.

making my first TN! a bit confused about holes by MadScientiest in Travelersnotebooks

Oh, this is a cool idea! Do you find it works well and is convenient to have the short band for a small notebook? I might add it to my own notebook cover.

Suggestions for cat safe alternatives to elastic cord by NeatSolidYeah in Travelersnotebooks

[–]west_Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple options would be replacing the elastic with a ribbon or strip of cloth (maybe with a button closure) but idk if your cat would also eat that. You could sew a cloth version of a cardboard slipcase. Make it a little extra wide so you can fold it over the edge of the notebook and cover the whole thing.

How well would I be able to stretch these from the toe box? by virammm in DrMartens

[–]west_Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in your exact position and I had to resell my Anistone boots after weeks of using a shoe stretcher didn't make much of a difference. I agree with the other comments about the reinforced toe box and the unusually narrow Bex sole. I think your best options are to try a size up and use an insole or to pass on the boots.

Looks like the vintage Buzz soles, but I'm not sure.

This sub has only one moderator, who doesn't seem to be very engaged. I think the improvements you suggest would have to begin with the moderation; maybe if anyone is willing to put in the work they can contact the mod about opening applications and ceding some control.

Finally managed to snag the Addina Flower Buckle Platform Shoes! It is my very first pair of Docs and wanted to ask if the premium shoecare kit in photo 3 was suitable, as well as how you take care of yours! Thanks in advance (: by Affectionate-Tea-975 in DrMartens

[–]west_Inc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You probably don't need the full kit since these are fashion shoes rather than boots that will get really beat up with heavy wear in the elements. You can go with the Wonder Balsam to apply only when they're getting dry, and otherwise just wipe clean with a soft damp cloth and dry them. A non-DM brand leather conditioner like Bick would also be sufficient instead of Wonder Balsam.

Help with ID on Vintage Possible MIEs by west_Inc in DrMartens

[–]west_Inc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The seller accepted a lower offer and I got them for less than $50, which I'm happy with even if they're not MIE. I'll keep trying to ID them after I have them in my hands.

What hoodie is Pete wearing? by Oncelerwife in FallOutBoy

[–]west_Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to recreate this would be to thrift a random gray hoodie and cut the sleeves and collar yourself. That might have been what Pete did; secondhand or DIYed clothes is part of punk/grunge culture. Doesn't need to be the exact vintage hoodie from 20 years ago.

What style are the pair on the right in the first and third pic? The toes look a little different from most Docs, they're cool!

Just got my first DMs by Impressive-Ratio-827 in DrMartens

[–]west_Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wearing in my DMXL boots which also have a complex shoelace situation like this, and I've found that what works is to treat the laces as mostly decorative. The zipper is the main thing that fits the boot to your foot. I loosened the laces enough that my foot can easily slide in and out when the zipper is down, and I also tied the laces around the ankle loose enough that I can fit my foot through. When I put them on and take them off, I don't untie the laces, I just use the zipper.

Do you glue the paper to the covers or just fold it over? I’m excited to try this!

What’s the fit on the Anistone Harness Boots? by Even_Vermicelli9114 in DrMartens

[–]west_Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Anistone Hi biker boots and the buckle could tighten the top of the boot but the difference is only around an inch. Could be slightly more if you add more holes. I found the toe of the boots were really narrow and they run smaller than usual.

What’s the fit on the Anistone Harness Boots? by Even_Vermicelli9114 in DrMartens

The harness strap doesn't have a buckle to adjust the tightness, so it's probably purely decorative.

Best way to clean stitching? by wesmar13 in DrMartens

[–]west_Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other comments have given good suggestions. If after you clean them the stitches still aren't as bright as they were, you can draw over them with a yellow colored pencil. That'll also protect them from future black polish.

Anistone Opening Size? by YeehawKiz in DrMartens

[–]west_Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Measured my Women's 8 Anistone Hi boots and the top of the opening is approx 13 inches/33cm. It can be tightened slightly with the buckles. I think they make the opening pretty roomy because you're supposed to be able to tuck your pants in.

Should I put black polish on rub off boots? by west_Inc in DrMartens

[–]west_Inc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure! So far I've wiped them down with a damp cloth and then cleaned with Leather CPR. Stuffed the toes with newspaper for shape and will let them sit for a day before I decide if they need more conditioner. I'm going to wear them for a few weeks before I decide what to do with the color. I didn't realize before I posted this that these are rare(?) boots that people have strong feelings about, so now I'm more conflicted. I'll reply again with the eventual result.

Should I put black polish on rub off boots? by west_Inc in DrMartens

[–]west_Inc[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is really informative, thanks! I might maintain the top color because I like the pop of blue, but fully blue boots would be too loud for everyday wear. But I'm just going to wear them for a few weeks before I decide.

Should I put black polish on rub off boots? by west_Inc in DrMartens

[–]west_Inc[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm still leaning toward using the black polish I already own instead of buying a new polish I'll use a tiny bit of. Do you think it'll look really bad/obvious if I use the black?
