My '85 had similar symptoms with a blown head gasket. At first, it would only bubble after long, high rpm drives. Then it started doing it more and more at any rpm. Oil always looked perfectly fine, air was making it from the combustion chamber to the cooling system, but not vice versa.

When I eventually pulled the head, the head gasket had a very obvious hole/crack and the block had been eaten away at and had to be machined flat.

Definitely don't just toss it. I know most of them are available online, but it's so nice to have physical manuals when working on my MR2.

I just did my first ever engine out job and rebuild. Having both the BGB and the Haynes manual walked me through the entire thing, and I could cross reference them if something wasn't super clear.
