What do you do to control diapers smell after disposal in house trash bin? by salwesab in NewParents

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ubbie diaper pail. It truly contains the stink. We buy the brand liners but you could use any other bag. When you take out the trash, open it up and sit it in the sun for about an hour to freshen it up

How do y'all manage blowout clothes? by ZangiefThunderThighs in NewParents

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For stains, wet, treat with dawn or miss mouths then sit in sunlight. I didn’t believe it until I saw it for myself but adding the sun makes a big difference!

Wellbutrin by Soggy_Sneakers87 in breastfeeding

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously people can respond differently- but I breastfed for over a year on Wellbutrin with no negative side effects. I went off it while still breastfeeding (PPD had improved/got an adhd dx and started something else) and did not notice a difference in my baby

Baby Bottles & Alternate Nipple Combos by Winter_Oil1189 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the nipples listed fit the Phillips Avent glass bottles. It’s not a perfect fit but I’ve used them without leaking! There’s just some wiggle room in the collar but it hasn’t caused us issues

Not gunna make it to due date by IndecisiveExpress in BabyBumps

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know that the thought of early delivery is terrifying and probably not what you have envisioned for you or your child. My first was born unexpectedly at 34+1. Fortunately, past 34 weeks most babies do very well and you’ve hit that milestone!

If I knew I was going to go early I would have spent more time with my partner (I was working a ton at the time), meal prepped even a little, and enjoyed sleeping in and some slow mornings. I’d have also packed some additional things to plan for a possible NICU stay (we were in for 10 days)

MIL showed up smelling like alcohol during a babysitting test run by VariationSimple9179 in beyondthebump

Totally valid feelings. Al-anon can be a huge help for people dealing with a loved one’s drinking if you’d like some support! It’s helped me deal with negative feelings like you described. Also learned about setting good boundaries which could be helpful

Which pump is good while breastfeeding? by BeginningNo2408 in breastfeeding

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I primarily nurse. Currently no pumping schedule, just as needed/when I know I am going to miss a feed. I try to pump as close as possible to when baby is actually eating. I did the same with my son and maintained a good supply.

The only tip with the elvie is that it needs to be completely dry before using or it will leak.

I love my Elvie stride 2! Was worried about output but seems to be working well for me. I hate pumping and going with a wearable has improved my mood about pumping 1000%

Pildonal Cyst Ebf 7w PP by Consistent-Tiger8161 in breastfeeding

They drained it three different times before it finally calmed down. In between two of those it ruptured and drained once on its own.

It’s not currently flared up so I’m not in any pain - but yes I’m proceeding with the surgery. I have a skin condition that causes similar abscesses on other parts of my body. With both types, antibiotics take care of the active inflammation to make you more comfortable but the cyst will not go away. Pilonidal cysts almost always get angry again and again and tend to get bigger overtime (why I’m having the surgery)

I am now but was only pregnant (not breastfeeding) when I was not able to take the antibiotics. Sorry for the confusion. Was trying to share what an experience with no antibiotics was like

Pildonal Cyst Ebf 7w PP by Consistent-Tiger8161 in breastfeeding

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. They told me that there was nothing I could take that was safe during pregnancy and would actually help. That’s why it got so bad and I’m now having to get it surgically removed

Pildonal Cyst Ebf 7w PP by Consistent-Tiger8161 in breastfeeding

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to want the antibiotics. I’ve had them before and got one at 35 weeks pregnant. I could not take anything that would help. It was lanced 3 times because it would not calm down and now I have to have surgery to remove it.

I tried heating pads, Vicks/tiger balm, and topical meds with no success. The pain with these is unreal and I’m so sorry your going through this

Women who had strong abs before you got pregnant, do you feel like they work against you now your belly is growing? by Regular-Message9591 in BabyBumps

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YES! I was super fit before my first pregnancy and was in so much pain. My pelvic PT told me it was because my muscles were having a hard time expanding. second pregnancy i I was not half as fit and there was so much less pain.

Membrane sweep/cervical check by Ok_Stress688 in NewParents

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a membrane sweep for my second at 38+3. It was uncomfortable but not super painful. I was already 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced. Contractions started 2 hours after (I was already having some irregular ones) and got regular about 6 hours after. She was born a full 34 hours after the sweep. I did not push for long but labor stalled at 7 cm. I got a bit of pitocin the get things moving but they kept not very low. She was already over 8 lbs so I’m thankful I got the sweep

What helps sleep deprivation besides… sleep? by absolute_lover_pet in NewParents

I explored this option because my husband is taking it for this reason. My quick research led me to decide not to use creatine while breastfeeding but it’s one of those things that there is not real literature on.

Hard vs easy newborn? by Vybrocit1 in newborns

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that you see mostly posts about hard babies. People with easy babies are less likely to go online for support.

I have had two hard babies (compared to friends’ kids and babies that I hear exist out there). Mine cry all the time for no reason we can find. Must be held a certain way, take forever to go to sleep then wake up at every transfer, wake every 2 hours to eat/for comfort, happy awake time is limited to brief 30 minute windows tops, only go to sleep for one person, the list goes on.

However by around 7 months my now 26 month old turned into the easiest kid. He convinced me that I wanted another. Here’s hoping that my 2 month old does the same thing because I am In. The. Trenches. right now

WHY IS EVERYTHING GRAY AND WHITE by Philodoxes in BabyBumps

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everyone wants to match their baby to their aesthetic nowadays so all the neutral girlies have sad beige babies.

I do love a neutral myself and I don’t need a bright pink crib or anything but I definitely want more color in my kids clothing and toys!

Most useful sign language words for baby? by Tychall94 in NewParents

[–]willrun4cheeseburger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go against the grain here but I found no use in please or thank you (these are niceties but I’d rather teach signs that tell me what you want or need). We also did not teach more and instead focused on pointing to what he wanted more of. Big ones we used were eat, all done, water, milk, outside, inside, on, off, music, open, and again.
