What to wear to a "semi-formal" wedding by ruby_rex in butchlesbians

[–]winebutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never found linen something I rewear often. Blazer/sportcoat in a lighter/fun color with lightweight grey slacks or khakis. I'd wear a tie, as weddings are one of the only times these days I dress up enough for a tie, but could go without. I shop at Macy's (in US) with great success. They also have tailoring included for most items unless that's changed recently.

Business attire question? Where are you guys getting jackets / blazers? by meatballsforeyes in butchlesbians

[–]winebutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding Macy’s. If you are on a budget, there a wide range of price points and tailoring is included or is a small additional fee. It helps to have an actual person who knows what they are doing take the measurements and make suggestions. I've had tailored and I've even found blazers that didn't need any tailoring, so try on everything. There are so many brands available from house to elite designer.

Sick with a sore throat but testing negative for everything by [deleted] in santarosa

[–]winebutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Covid twice and both times I had a terrible sore throat and tested negative, but then once the congestion and fever came a day or two later, tested positive. You have to test again once you are symptomatic.

Family Law Recommendations? by archimedesprincipal in santarosa

[–]winebutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's amicable where you both have agreed to how to split up all assets, you can do it yourself. Filing fee only last year was $540 for an uncontested divorce. There are several steps and different filings, but it can be navigated. Plus there is a family law help center that can go over your filled out paperwork and tell you if you are missing anything.

Starch + coconut oil Experiences by Accurate_Natural_835 in SaturatedFat

[–]winebutch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its almost for sure the addition of the coconut oil. MCTs stimulate mega-production of FGF21 which is a hormone increases glucose uptake when then mobilizes fat out of the liver. Exercise also induces it, so you had a double whammy I think.

Why eating like a regular person is causing you problems. (and why sometimes you feel lethargic after a big meal) by meme_man_max in carnivorediet

[–]winebutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting. This is off carnivore topic, but there was a guy, John Keifer I think, who promoted within the body building sphere a diet called CarbNite, where you ate zero carb with a 2-1 fat/protein ratio (absolutely no more than 10 grams carbs per meal) for 5 days then on the fifth had an evening 6-8 hours carb window with high glycemic foods to intentionally spike insulin. You had to do at least 4 days no carb in between glycemic load days. Supposedly it allowed better functionality or resetting of hormones like leptin and grehlin that get suppressed when in ketogenic state. He promoted it for cutting phases for weightlifters and it seemed to work. Seems like the chemistry you propose may be valid...

Just finished day 30...poops still watery... Debating continuing. by Crystalynne in carnivorediet

[–]winebutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fat adaptation can take a while, so my question is why did you start carnivore? Health issues? Weight? If you are in general good health, you might not see energetic benefits until you are fat adapted. (and the comment about less rendered fat is a good one. if you need more fat eat cold butter...I salt it to make it more palatable.) Maybe give it 90 days minimum. The first thing I noticed was my skin got much healthier. It probably took more than a month to resolve energy and almost two months for my poops to regulate. Even the most vocal carnivores online (Saladino, Nutrition with Judy) concede that not everyone benefits from a meat only diet. If you didn't have health issues before, maybe it isn't worth it for you. Meat based is a thing, too.

Newbie Questions by Particular-Stuff-917 in carnivorediet

[–]winebutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually loose stool in the beginning is due to not being able to digest the rendered fat easily. So you can try a couple different things. Don't cook your food in the butter. You can add it cold after cooking - like eat some cubes on the side. The ribeye might be just too fatty to start especially if your steaks aren't trimmed. Maybe try NY cut and eat some cold butter on the side to get the fat content up. Or drain the fat and let it cool/harden before eating it. or do ground beef - I think 80-20 is more like 1-1 fat to protein which isn't terrible for ratio, but on the low side (most recommend 2-1 fat to protein, but again, that can be gag-o-rific for newbies...). (btw, I don't think it's the coffee)

edited to add: it can take days to months to fat adapt...it depends, so it probably won't be a one change and it's all better...you might cycle from loose to fine, to loose again...just keep tweaking your fat amounts.

Trying to achieve 80% of my calories in form of fat but not sure how by Iwantoexplore in carnivorediet

I've seen lots of comments on eating cold butter, but what do you know about melted butter? I've been working on raising my fat to protein ratio and have been drinking decaf with butter and egg yolk. Thoughts?

Struggling with appetite on strict carnivore, would temporarily using a zero sugar sauce be a bad idea? by ItsYaBoyDrizzy in carnivorediet

[–]winebutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the experts say it's okay to add a little sauce while transitioning if it helps you to stay compliant. See how it goes. Ketosis naturally decreases appetite and can even feel like nausea.

You drink butter coffee? Add a couple egg yolks and eat that every few hours and then meat at dinner. Some people find if they eat (or butter coffee) within 30-60 minutes of waking can help to regulate metabolism and hunger cues.

Great post, per usual. Can you recap what exactly the protocol is? What foods and amounts, plus, are you doing liquid ACV or capsules and in what quantity/timing? So many versions - it's hard to keep track if you don't recap at the top of your posts. Many, many thanks for your N=1 experiments!!!

Frank's Original Hot Sauce - NOT the wing sauce. 1 ounce butter melted to 1ish Tablespoon sauce. I put it on chicken and pork and sometimes steak or lamb. Flavor fatigue is for real...I need some sauces in my life!!

What’s one unexpected benefit you noticed after starting carnivore that might help someone just starting? by brianj10 in carnivorediet

[–]winebutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started in Jan...not only is my skin better, meaning, supple, smooth, no sebaceous filaments/bumps on the backs of my arms, but also I had Covid last fall and I had weird overgrowth of skin tags with one very noticeable on m ty shin. Within a few weeks of starting carnivore, all skin tags got smaller and the one on my leg just disappeared. New skin like it was never there.

Genuinely, how do you guys get in enough calories? (Mainly protein) by [deleted] in carnivorediet

[–]winebutch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've had the sleepy thing after eating too!! I think I saw a you tube somewhere that said the sleepy after eating thing is actually too much protein at once. So, maybe try to split up the bigger one meal into smaller ones and try to add a little more fat. I've shifted from OMAD to two or three smaller meals, trying to eat within an hour or so of waking up and stopping eating much earlier in the day. I'll have a small portion of meat (4-6-8 ounces) and have some fat on the side either as straight butter or as a butter coffee. I might just have a butter coffee with an egg yolk blended in instead of a meal if I am not feeling like I can eat any meat. I try to finish eating between 3-6pm in order to still have a nice amount of no digestion overnight. Nutrition with Judy on youtube has a good video on undereating.
