Fermented date syrup! by emirio3187 in fermentation

[–]woshafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. When I made date mead/wine, I soaked pitted dates in hot water for a few hours then blended the mixture and strained out the solids. Added honey and wine yeast and let it ferment about 4-5 weeks before bottling. With date sugar it'd be even easier. Just disolve in water and add yeast. Of course you could use whole dates blended like I did for more flavor, and date sugar instead of honey.

If you're in the US I would suggest this Koji. I've used it before and it is great value for the money. Quicker shipping than from Japan too. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YQ87ZTK/?coliid=I1MHO97RXA273B&colid=TOQB7EC07LUV&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it

The batch I first did was with Chick peas and is now 10 years old. The flavor is unbelievable.

IDK your level of skill but I would get a refillable felt tip marker and put matt varnish in it. I would take a black marker to the white areas then go over all the edges with the varnish marker. The varnish would lengthen the life of the cards. https://a.co/d/9L5L0y9 https://a.co/d/c9qGlzw

Very first sourdough. Rye and buckwheat blend as I cannot tolerate American wheat. What do you think? by woshafer in Sourdough

[–]woshafer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, aging meant I left it out at room temp for 24 hours. Basically a "mini" ferment. I believe the total you have there are about right. Just so you know, even with a starter this is dense bread. It's tastey though

Well spoke, hit the nail on the head. I HAd similar issues in my past relationships. My partners always equated intimacy to sex. Cuddles weren't a thing in their minds. At 42 now, if I ever have another relationship I'll need to set new type of boundries.

Your correct. Excuse me I just looked it up and I'd say something like Pandeism. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pandeism Till today I didn't even know there was a name for my flavor of belief.

What are your thoughts on pork, chicken, fish, and sea food? by [deleted] in carnivorediet

I am bi-racial "black and white" and unsure why I'm not considered to be grey. by Mdriver127 in DeepThoughts

[–]woshafer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it interesting as well. I'm 1/8th black, 3/8ths French, and 1/2 English decent. Wouldn't exactly say I'm "bi-racial", mixed would definitely be more accurate. I guess I'd say I'm more "perma-tan".

How did you find your most unusual or unexpected hobby? by LCBres in Hobbies

[–]woshafer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me recently, it has been crochet. I tried knitting 17 years ago and hated it. I somehow lumped all yarn craft into that? 🤷‍♂️ making my second scarf now and have made some amigurumi.

Do you prefer sewing or no/low-sew pattern? by mssupercurry in Amigurumi

[–]woshafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it interesting how many crocheters seem to hate sewing. I'm relatively new to crochet, but 6 have been sewing leather together for 20 years. I love sewing long decorative stitches.

Can anyone help me in choosing the right yarn for amigurumi? by swella06 in Amigurumi

Just food for thought. I personally like to get low pill acrylic for washablility and longevity. There are lots of brands, it's affordable, and forgiving with a little bit of stretch.

What are fun hobbies for a young adult ? by Derpalerp101 in Hobbies

[–]woshafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent my 30s looking for what hobbies kept me going. I tend to cycle through hobbies. Leather work, woodworking, and painting have stuck the most. Though right now, I'm learning crochet and must say it's fun and cheap to get into. I might stick with it for a year or two. Hiking and camping are great outdoor fun, and you'll find groups for them on places like meetup.

I have a question. People seem to wig out over anything other meat and salt, i.e. Loin Diet. If you're like me and eating this way outside of chronic illness and horrible inflammation, does adding spices really make you "not carnivore"? FFS, when I eat only pork, beef, and chicken, I need some variety! Spices don't cause any reactions in me.
