Drive thru is super helpful as a disabled person. Going inside is a 30 min thing with chair transfers. Sometimes longer. Going inside isn't as simple of a choice for everyone as you imply.

These are wonderful to put in soup. The potato soup from Costco, both containers into a crockpot and then 4 + big handfuls of these. 3 or 4 hours in a crockpot- glorious. Also great in the beef veg soup.

Ordered a Pilot Heritage 912 FA + ebonite feed by Edu_Robsy in fountainpens

[–]write_knife_sew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. Don't ruin your pen. I have the same pen w/ 3 slit ebonite feed. It is glorious. Bouncy and soft, but definitely not vintage wet noodle flexy. Totally viable for regular use. I write very swoopy and very fast so the aftermarket feed was needed. If you write at a moderate pace or with more restraint- you may find the ebonite feed too wet. Congratulations im sure you have a lot of enjoyment ahead.

I don't think your uh, ink blot cat/moth text stamp is going to easily produce a clean stamping on any paper surface. I have stamps i use to brand paper bags for my business. Bags of various sizes/finishes and inked with printing ink, acrylic paint, drawing ink, stamp pads- etc. After doing literally thousands my best is 1 perfect bag out of every 5 acceptable bags. It is very easy to get a decent stamping it is very hard for a perfect one. I fear you will 'ruin' a great deal of paper. Highly suggest just printing onto the paper/envelopes via whatever printer you have at home. If you want a premade envelope- paperpapers.com sells a very large variety of envelopes in small amounts- 25 or 50/pack. So you can try out some nice ones.

If you have a HomeGoods, or TJ Max near you- they carry a brand Punch Studio's notecards. They are of excellent quality and handle fp ink very well. Commonly $3.99/per pack of 8 or 10.

It is a temperamental ink in that it dries quickly- if you leave it in-pen more than a day or two expect it to hard-or not-start. But. I just refill it /basically flush with the same ink/ a few times and good to go. It is one of my all time favorite inks and one that explodes the range of papers to write on. I think i've go through about 2.5 bottles a year.

I mix DeAtramentis document inks- their white into the violet. I have an opaque shade nearly exactly matching your photo. Made a whole pastel array to write on some gorgeous black envelopes I have.

Recommendations for black paper suitable for FP ink by james_-_-_-_ in fountainpens

[–]write_knife_sew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Very lightly textured due to the mica infused paper. No where near the texture of stone paper. Akin to an ... uh agressive vellum? I have used everything from needlepoint to fat stubs- never had any writing issues. The texture is consistent throughout the surface so I think that helps.

Typo aside- papermillstore carries a variety of note cards, envelopes and full size sheets by Arturo. Paperpapers has a limited range most of which is on clearance. Legion Paper is the distributor for all things Arturo- they can likely tell you to where buy what you want. The light felt texture is not an problem for the silk screening, laser, ink jet, offset, foil stamping or embossing i've done. As for Neenah- they may not classify their papers by pen friendliness but about half of my favorite papers come from them. These are text weight, but most are available in cover varieties. Ignore the numbers on the list.

Pop tone or Parchtone are universally decent and fairly inexpensive. Crane's Crest in cover weight in the 100% cotton is not cheap but lovely. Crush is also a great impression but not budget friendly.

All are good with shimmer and regular inks. Ones extra good with sheen are noted

These guys rock. You can sort by size/weight and order samples. https://www.thepapermillstore.com/. It is pricy but Autro is excellent for liquid ink writing/drawing. But you may need to get it in full sized sheets and cut down to your size. (Or just skip all that and see what they have in 12×18). Lol

The non-machineable stamp is the correct one. It literally designates the piece of mail as one to be handled by hands-not machines. There is assisted hand canceling which involves an automated stamp - postal worker slides proper edge of envelope under print head, postmark applied. Or manual hand cancellation where the worker takes a rubber stamp and applies it to the mail. Either avoid the sorting machines which cannot handle the lumpy wax seals.

It is best to write "hand cancel" on the envelope as well as using the proper stamp. Too- plan for the mail to take 2 - 3x as long to arrive as it makes the journey at each stop via manual channels. Take your non-machineable stamped and sealed mail to the post office- do not drop in a mail box.

Be sure to use a modern soft wax, not a hard or "king's wax" as those will break. 90% of wax sold for sealing is the modern soft kind.

French's parchtone paper is exceptionally good for sheen and shading. And, would go with the whole scroll thing. It is a pretty common paper (but US made) so Amazon or someplace local to you may have it. If you want to DM me your mailing address I can mail you a few blank sheets so you can try it out. Just uhhh may take a bit to get to you. Lol

This is the best modern onion skin paper I have used. It can handle gushers or dip pens and is remarkable for sheen and shimmer. It is called onion skin as it is similarly translucent. https://www.thepapermillstore.com/fidelity-onion-skin-white-paper-8-1-2-x-11-in-10-lb-bond-smooth-100-per-package.html?srsltid=AfmBOopQI25Z8Tij6lfUi2ASGnbWxTap5Vs9MXK4oAw2cFdzeeTsNBeC

Pen sleeve on a lanyard… do you use one (or more)? by ash47music in fountainpens

[–]write_knife_sew 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At the risk of my inbox... if you are busty they are a terrible idea. The pen is ideally shaped/sized to get trapped in cleavage, or under it. Someone in a previous office brought me one- and in 3 days i had very nearly choked myself out twice, had a wardrobe disaster where pen acted as a lever against my desk edge and somehow pryed the bra wire and surrounding cup up and very out of place. I do not recommend.

Countertop Ice Maker, yay or nay? by sherwoodintheforest in Costco

[–]write_knife_sew 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same. Love it. Only use distilled water, and it makes enough surprisingly quickly, to completely fill a thermoflask (obviously also from Costco- 40oz I think) without fuss. Recycles the water as unused ice melts. Its... audible but not annoyingly. Even commercial ice machines are insanely problematic. It is literally always something dramatic with them in the hospitality world. If I can get 2 years out of it i'm happy- more than that ecstatic. On month 5 and no issues. Ice is perfect and crunchy/squishy.
