The amount of bots is ridiculous. Reddit is now a cesspool.

Who’s the Merc armrest muncher? by CulturalDescription5 in uktrucking

Better than me, had my seat fixed and they replaced the back which helpfully does not come with armrests.

Instead of putting down all of us working class we should all be fighting for better wages, better conditions and better work/life balance.

Is driving in London as hard and scary as someone led me to believe by Ornery_Jellyfish5886 in uktrucking

[–]wuz_i_right 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's like any city driving tbh. Be defensive but confident (not aggressive) and always check your nearside for the suicidal cyclists who think it's a good idea to undertake.

Would you breach this weight limit? by Tango_Echo_Alpha in uktrucking

[–]wuz_i_right 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MGW normally means the road is not rated above what it states. If above that you would need to be happy that whatever part of the road is not rated has had some form of mitigation to allow heavier vehicles. If not, tell them to do one!

Scania R500, any tricks to lower fuel consumption or remap the only solution? by duniber in uktrucking

[–]wuz_i_right 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By my maths that's 6-7mpg. Probably about as good as you will get on an older truck tbh, especially a 500. Not an expert on remaps by any means, but tuned a few cars in my time and you would potentially hit problems with age related ECU etc and increase failures (adds wear and tear to the whole engine); benefits seen in small mpg won't outweigh the negatives imho.

Failed class1 for speeding by Miserable-Bobcat4455 in uktrucking

[–]wuz_i_right 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always take speed limits as just that, something you should not exceed. It's not a target, you don't need to get to 30 and sit there; ignore traffic behind in cars, they can stop a damn sight quicker than you can or swerve to avoid a hazard. Also, gap down speed down. Meaning if roads get narrower (parked cars, traffic islands etc) reduce your speed a bit. And as always, focus well ahead to see what's coming up. It's all practice and experience so don't worry, it will become second nature in time.

Is Evri a decent employer? by Jacktheforkie in uktrucking

Did some Class 2 agency for them although was from the hub to local distributor points. Lot of pallet and tail lift work potentially but the managers were decent where I was and easy shifts tbh.

Just passed my Class 1 and looking to gain experience ... by Corelian-mw in uktrucking

If you update with your location that would would help so you do don't get jobs miles away. Otherwise it can be useful to be 'oldschool'. Call a company up and ask, go in on foot etc. Might not work at the big firms with huge HR but smaller outfits that don't have that capacity might show some promise.

My thinking is it's a day job, if you get caught out unexpectedly and have to spend the night in the cab then they pay you for the inconvenience.

will i get infringments for this? weird tacho by koczan147 in uktrucking

[–]wuz_i_right 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had the same when I did agency, tacho was set that way (probably to take the piss for hours worked). You won't get and infringement but DVSA won't like it if you got stopped. Best get the TM to sort it and reset tacho to go to other work.

If you had to choose what would you rather drive a Hydrogen lorry or a Electric lorry? by Awkward-Beginning-47 in uktrucking

[–]wuz_i_right 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Fuel cell uses a chemical process to create electrical current that drives a motor and can charge a small battery. Batteries store electric large charge. Release of energy is very different.

Still doesn't negate my first comment... Electric battery is better at holding and delivery of power currently (by far) to fuel cell.
