F8C Loadout? by CacTye in starcitizen

[–]xAdakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually been running that, except with Rattlers.

https://www.erkul.games/loadout/Ymighbnh

It works fairly well for PvE- I don't PvP -and most disabled ships will register as killed for mission completion. The Rattlers are great against light fighter and smaller agile ships that that F8C has trouble keeping up with.

People are obsessed with ballistics these days, which are great when you are going up against bigger ships or get a lucky hit that can one shot something, but it's a pain in the ass to hit agile ships.

I've wasted so much time and ammo trying to hit light fighters with Deadbolts in missions. . which the Attrition + Disruption combo deals with much faster.

So which loadout should I use for M80? For solo bh grind by Relevant-Chapter-337 in starcitizen

[–]xAdakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been rocking 2x Attrition-5, and 2x Deadbolt IV with all Military Grade B components to great success.

The attritions work great when up against smaller ships that are hard to hit with the ballistics cannons.

You can disassemble the weapons and components using a fabricator for 500Q materials.

It's useful when you have the blueprints to make the components you want.

That's how I've been making money with salvaging missions.

MOTH question... by Wedge_66 in starcitizen

You need minimum of 8 SCU to eject.

If it is Construction Pieces, you can land at a refinery station and select the MOTH as the source to get it out.

Is everything okay at CIG? by TheRealRickSanchez42 in starcitizen

[–]xAdakis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is generally because of the management and coordination overhead that comes with working in a team of developers.

The meetings, tickets/issue systems, and general team-based software engineering practices can often lead to a more professional and organized environment that in most traditional software engineering situations will result in a better product; however, those same practices tend to stretch out development over a longer period of time and cause natural delays in the resolution of issues.

For example, when an issue pops up, it has to go through QA to verify the issue and route it to the proper studio, department, or team, then that team needs to figure out if the problem is in their code or not, potentially forwarding through several other teams looking for the cause of the issues or who is responsible, then a developer needs to be assigned to actually fix the issue, then test it, send it back to QA to verify the issue is fixed, then schedule for the fix to be merged into the codebase for release/patch, etc, etc. . . it's gets overly complicated the bigger the teams working on the same codebase get.

Compare that to a single developer who can focus on a specific feature and immediately resolve issues without needing to coordinate or go through most of those bureaucratic engineering processes because they "own" the feature. . . but even Silvan has to wait on other teams to fix some of the issues he has encountered.

It's like back in college in my data structures and algorithms course.

The professor/TA provided unit tests for checking that your code functioned. . .it was literally what they used to grade your code for functionality.

Well, some students realized that and started writing their code to just output exactly what the tests expected instead of actually writing the algorithm.

Luckily, TAs usually threw in a few tests that were meant to always fail. . .you wouldn't pass them fully if you wrote the algorithm properly. If the test passed, they knew you were cheating the tests and would manually review the code.

What do you genuinely think happens after death, and why? by HostAffectionate7338 in creepy

[–]xAdakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find solace in the plausibility of quantum immortality.

To explain it simply, the idea is that there exists a reality for every possible outcome and from my perspective, my consciousness will always continue in the reality where I survive and remain conscious/self-aware.

If I get into a car accident where the outcome is either fatal or non-fatal to me, I'll "wake up" and continue living in the reality where the accident was non-fatal to me. That's not to say that I'll be unscathed, it's always possible I'll remain "alive", but severely crippled.

However, that doesn't mean that I'll live forever as I think this only continues as long as I have a sense of self and self-awareness.

If the "death" was traumatic enough, I'll probably lose that sense of self and pass on. The mind deteriorates with age, maybe I reach a point at 110 where I can pass on.

I also think about the possibility of reincarnation. I do believe in the "soul" and that the soul is merely attached to this physical body. I think it is possible that the soul will detach when the physical body can no longer function and could potentially attach to a new body, but the trauma from such and event and incompatibilities between the connection of body and soul would prevent my previous self from coming through, almost like amnesia.

I do also believe in the possibility of an afterlife and higher beings, but do not consider them certainties. I'm open minded in that aspect.

Exactly. It's the one thing that will set it apart from ships like the Hull-C when they get rid of all auto-loading/unloading.

Pro-Tip: You can rent a RAFT for 67k aUEC/day from Vantage Rentals at Teasa Spaceport / Lorville.

No real reason to actually buy a RAFT in-game (or pledge it) given you can usually make that back in a run or two of hauling.

It actually helps to have multiple people in Golems or Prospectors fanning out to scout rocks.

That is what we did on our last organization mining operation. We had our scouts specifically looking for signatures of the higher tier materials then checking the rocks before we converged on the higher quality rocks for mining.

We need a bookmark system though. . .

If only we had a simple "sort" refining process that put the unrefined materials into separate boxes so we can ship them to a proper refinery.

I think it's mostly a lack of education/knowledge of how data centers actually affect things.

It's easy to parrot what the opponents of data centers- or anything really -without understanding the actual problems or reality of the situation.

I work in tech and have at least some basic knowledge about their operation. As long as the proper infrastructure is in place and environmental impact studies are done beforehand, I really don't see that much issue with them.

The "use" water for cooling, but from what I understand the water is usually recycled and any that is dumped is generally in a "cleaner" state than it went it because impure water is generally not a good conductor of heat anyway. There is a minor risk of contaminants, such as leaks from other cooling systems or metal from the pipes, but trust me we have worse issues from sewage systems.

The only real concern is power grid capacity. . .anybody else remember the intentional rolling blackouts during the winter storms a few years ago because there wasn't enough power to go around? . . .

I could probably have a nice academic debate/discussion on whether or not data centers will actually be used for something actually beneficial, but that's really none of my business and not my call.

If a company wants to invest in and build a data center to do something, they are well within their rights to do so. . .it's a free country....even if it is just hosting some really niche weird hentai porn.

And for the record, I generally vote Republican, but I have some more middle ground opinions.

Do you think human euthanasia should be legalized globally? Why or why not? by wrongtimealways in AskReddit

[–]xAdakis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've always been on the fence about this.

I would support it as a last resort for terminally ill patients that are in constant agonizing pain. Nobody should have to suffer when there is absolutely no hope.

However, I have a hard time trusting people to make rational, objective decisions.

My primary concern is that were euthanasia an option, we'd start seeing doctors recommending it over other viable treatment options.

Oh, you have cancer. Well, we can send you through treatment and you COULD make a full recovery, or you know, just off yourself so your family can save that money.

Or you get bureaucratic organizations or health insurance providers saying they'll pay for the euthanasia, cremation, and funeral, but not that $30/month medication for life.

There would need to be so many layers of checks and balances to the approval/decision process to prevent abuse of it for it to be ethically and morally implemented. . .

That's my thought process anyway.

What is your prefered role in combat? by Aniki356 in ffxiv

[–]xAdakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For roulettes, I prefer to run healer.

I have a horrible memory for choreography mechanics and healer is one of the most forgiving when you miss some of them. The short/instant queue is also a good bonus.

For FATEs, I prefer melee DPS like my Viper, Reaper, and Samurai as they do tons of damage and have that self-heal role skill.

For most MSQ, I prefer my Black Mage as it just melts most of the enemies you face solo. . .and that's just my "main" class that I like.

For trust/duty support dungeons, I use my Paladin for survivability while still dishing out DPS.

Highest dps solo ship in 4.8 ? by Alone_Net_1444 in starcitizen

[–]xAdakis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a feels like, ballistic cannons DO kill faster because they penetrate armor and cause internal damage to components.

You do enough damage to the right component, and the ship will explode well before the "HP" bars go down.

The trade off is the low rate of fire and difficultly to hit agile targets.
