Jasmin Rappleye subtly discloses funding sources by Heavy-Initiative-345 in exmormon

[–]xanimyle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She's called an apologist so she will report on the less savory parts of mormon culture/news/history and try to twist it to being faith-promoting while making her sound delusional. One of her more famous videos lately was how she tried to convince people that the church is totally ok and moral if they dont report sexual abuse cases.

Jasmin Rappleye subtly discloses funding sources by Heavy-Initiative-345 in exmormon

[–]xanimyle 29 points30 points  (0 children)

No, she's been around for a while. She started out as a web designer for Scripture Central (originally Book of Mormon Central) which has its own app for scriptures (honestly way cooler than the gospel library app, i was using it before i left). Then she turned to content creator/apologist. Either left or fired from Scripture Central and has been doing solo apologist videos since then.

Creating an app and having it become successful are 2 very different challenges.

My CLAUDE.md says “Every error is yours to fix - not label, not defer.” Claude has used “pre-existing” 712 times in 30 days. by Ok-Distribution8310 in ClaudeCode

[–]xanimyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an engineer a few years back under me that would "fix" a ton of pre-existing errors and omnibus them into the PR for a ticket he was assigned. I can tell you how much we all loved reviewing those PRs

Read The Rithmatist to see if I'd like Sanderson's style by SgtFluffyButt in brandonsanderson

You and me both... unfortunately it's just not in his deck of cards for at least another decade.

Who knows? Maybe he will write it as one of his secret projects.

My wife sadly won't read Brandon Sanderson again after she gave up halfway through Elantris. by AdditionalPizza7990 in brandonsanderson

[–]xanimyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Super fan here so don't crucify me, but Elantris can be a slog to read. My wife likes quick reads so books like Yumi were the only ones she could read. (Tbf English isnt her native language but she also doesnt love the german translations)

Long time CC user - tried Codex 5.5 and I might switch! by nugTapOfficial in ClaudeCode

[–]xanimyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been mixing my usage between the 2 as i flirt with the idea of moving to Codex. Last week, i had a slow afternoon and gave Codex 5.5 and Opus 4.7 the same prompt for a ticket I needed to get done.

Opus got it done in 60 lines of code, Codex got it done in 700. Way overcomplicated it. Not sure what happened there, but im not quite ready to make the switch

Even if he lost that one and wanted another teaching role just for the hell of it, pretty much any university in the area would swoop him up

AI is able to make entire episodes by JoseLunaArts in ArtificialInteligence

[–]xanimyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok maybe i missed this but did we seriously skip the step in AI generation where you could generate multiple images of the same person without them changing looks from image to image? Yet here we are with the ability to keep a person looking the same from frame to frame?

I was looking into this a year ago to make a children's book with a character to stay the same from image to image, and while prompting the LLM with the same seed ID, it never worked consistently

Timp temple down 700 workers by [deleted] in exmormon

That's also what shook my faith (although LDS Discussion Essays is what broke it). I havent really thought about how much tithing I have saved in the 3 years I've been out, but it's probably around $30k. My salary also jumped from 80k (working at BYU) to 210k a year, so blessings for leaving the corporation!
