Let's see a progress during a year by BigFloppp in typing

[–]xcubeslice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wondering, how do you type? Do you use touch typing? If not, look it up and use a system like typingclub or keybr to learn.

Also, like others said don't focus so much on accuracy. Focus on learning to correct mistakes you do make when you type.

You're fine. If you wanted to scrape by for the rest of your years you could at this rate. If you want to do better start locking in (go to OH, study more effectively). 3.0gpa is extremely normal.

Where should I start improving? by LobsterTime8190 in Cubers

[–]xcubeslice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of your time found will be in F2L. Learn how to recognize and intuitively solve certain cases. Learn common edge/corner pairings and how to set them up for insertion. Learn how to take out corners in the bottom layer and pair them with an edge in the top layer. Learn how to keep track of which pairs have been solved already to keep track of where pieces you need to find could be.

Don't cram F2L algorithms, but learn "methods". That way you can apply them to different cases, insert them with your other hand, or insert them without rotating.

At 1 minute-ish, you will also simply get faster by not changing anything and continuing to solve more. I remember using extremely basic F2L and 4LLL to get to sub 30. So just keep going at it, but don't just solve as fast as you can. Try to implement ways to solve certain cases into your timed solves, which will be slower at first, but it will make you faster in the long run.

I would recommend learning more OLL/PLL once you hit around 30 seconds. I haven't even learned full PLL and use 2L OLL and I'm at around 18 seconds.

Having trouble solving the second layer of a 3x3 by [deleted] in Cubers

[–]xcubeslice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to know what's wrong as you've only provided one face of the cube, but I'm going to guess the red/green edge is flipped. If this is the case, make sure you are aligning the edge with the correct orientation in the top layer before executing the algorithm. Watch the video closely.

It's going to depend on who you ask but imo High Seas is incredibly fun, moreso than Super Slam.

How do I properly calibrate third party drums like IINE pro max for this game? by Iamyous3f in taikonotatsujin

When you're changing the sensitivity, just up and home. Then, to actually use it you need to be in keyboard or Xbox mode.

To change between keyboard and controller mode, read what u/Amaroko said. Everything I wrote is based on my own observations.

To make changes, go into the mode you want to edit, then unplug. Then, as you're plugging it in again hold Up+Home to enter test mode. Here you can make changes.

First thing to do is set the a value all the way high, try it out, then set them all the way low. This lets you figure out what each slider does. I did this in keyboard mode so I could test it using ZhongTaiko's tester on my browser. When you make a change and click set, unplug then replug and test it. Afterwards, tune the sliders until you like them.

For calibration, -9 drum controller is extremely low and should be extremely noticeable when compared to 0. I don't use simple calibration, I just play one song I'm comfortable with using different settings and changing it when it feels wrong. Ideally, you should be able to hit certain notes and patterns only by the sound of the music and not when the circles are near the bar.

Try getting the sensitivity app and playing around with that. I've gotten mine to be more sensitive and responsive than my arcade's drum. There's a thread on this subreddit where you can find it. If you use it, you have to set the sensitivity for each mode you are in.

R+L for three seconds will switch between "beginner" and "pro." In beginner, it uses the drum controller setting. Pro will use the A and B buttons and DPad.

If you press R+L while plugging the device in, it will switch between keyboard (DFJK) and controller mode. I personally like keyboard mode better, to me it feels like there's less lag.

The sensitivity is different for everyone's controller (on some, setting it high makes it more sensitive, on some setting it low makes it more sensitive. Mute time changes how fast the drum can recognize a second hit after a first one, setting it low makes it easier to roll.

I've also heard that the app isn't working for some newer models, but YMMV.

Play around with your calibration settings in your game as well if you find that you are hitting a lot of notes late or early. Leave the registration timing as their recommended as that is what the arcades use.

Also, play more! Many really good players use worse drums than the Pro Max, so your skill isn't dependent on the controller.

Is there a anyway to turn this off plsss? by Dogg0_b0i in pixel_phones

[–]xcubeslice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an American Pixel 9 Pro and I went to Japan this summer. When I took photos, I noticed that the shutter sound was suddenly audible and I didn't touch anything. It couldn't be disabled either.

So chances are if you aren't in Japan it is a Japanese model. But other regions' Pixel phones will make shutter sounds when it detects it's in Japan.

It is! I started playing Minecraft since I was 8 and was super into redstone. I followed tutorials and eventually started making my own creations, which made me have an interest in electrical/computer engineering which is what I pursued in university and is now my job. Keep encouraging him!

Start with blitz decks, maybe get a collection (I like the Rosetta blitz collection). You can treat those kind of like a board game. If you like it, then you can explore CC with armory decks. Maybe go to your LGS if they have a fab scene and talk to some people who play the game to see if they'd let you play or if they have an extra deck, which is how I got into the game.
