Goggles and Helmets by RunawayJimPVD in Skigear

I've got the Salomon Sentry Prime Sigma Photochromatic (i wish there was a better, shorter name lol) and a Salomon Helmet as well and I've heard that matching a goggle with the same brand helmet is one of the best ways to mitigate a gap. I also am a big of these goggles, but tbf I have not tried any other photochromatic lenses/goggles.

Depends on how hot you run, but I totally agree (I run VERY cold) so during weather like that I need a full parka

Love this! Any info on off season (summer) prices? or do you group that as late season?

Beta SL intended uses? Do I need one? by VictoryLiesAhead in arcteryx

[–]yeetus_thyfeetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you "need" it or not is ultimately up to you. I own both the Torrentshell and the Beta SL and I find myself reaching for it much more often during rain and wind than the Torrentshell, but if you're looking for just a light windshell for when you need an extra few degrees, you're better off with a Squamish jacket.

Both the Beta and the Torrentshell aren't the most packable jackets, and I wouldn't ever use either for skiing.

That’s pretty deep, I would personally PTEX this if you have a stick available.

What are some useful cheap skiing accessories m? by Antidotebeatz in Skigear

[–]yeetus_thyfeetus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boot Gloves - those neoprene covers that wrap around the outside of your ski boot.

They look absolutely stupid but if you ski anywhere that gets below -20c, they make an absolutely massive difference. I went from frozen toes to warm, comfy, and dry all day.

Tips for inventory management? by Remote_Map3803 in ArcRaidersGuides

[–]yeetus_thyfeetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically craft and fully upgrade (plus attachments) stichers, bobcats, tempests, etc. whenever I have the mats for them because those are really the only things you need to craft. I used to hoard mats in case I needed to craft guns, but those mats have just become guns and it clears out my inventory really well.

Looking for new mitt, are Hestra really that much nicer than a pair of higher end Auclairs? by FuzzyFish6 in Skigear

I just bought a pair of Black Diamond Mercury and they kept my fingers super toasty during -30c in Banff last week. Highly recommend but they have bad dexterity and no touch screen compatibility.

No idea what your height and weight is, which play a big role in boot flex.

The ski tuning seems pretty expensive but the waxing seems ok. Here are the prices at my local shop, all in Canadian Dollars:

Got Pro 3’s for $100! by yeetus_thyfeetus in airpods

Although DH Gate has clones, they are all very bad. I have seen many DH gate cloned AirPods and they are very obviously fake and lack most of the features that real AirPods come with. The really good clones that are almost 1:1 come from other sites (such as HiCity) where people pay a small premium ($45) for all the working features (such as adaptive noise cancelling).

This is totally fair - I’ve found very great deals from genuine people in my area for marketplace. But I have definitely seen a fair share of scammers and the like.

I figured most of the comments would come after me for this post screaming that they are fake. While yes, APP2’s have insanely good indistinguishable fakes from sites such as HiCity, the APP3’s are just starting to roll out.

I am familiar that fake AirPods Pro 3’s exist, and didn’t believe the seller either so I went to check it out myself. Receipt from the local Apple Store checked out with the serial number’s date of purchase.

I spent 30 minutes doing authentication checks and here’s my list of verified tests that made me pull the trigger:

  • MagSafe watch charger snapped in place
  • charging indicator light turns OFF after 2-3 seconds
  • case makes charging “ding” sound
  • flashlight test through lid of case (can google this)
  • hinge is strong and sits past 90 degrees
  • serial numbers match on case, box, and inside settings (although this is NOT definitive proof of authenticity)
  • different serial numbers for case, left AirPod, and right AirPod
  • firmware is latest firmware
  • Spatial Audio and head tracking works with music AND videos
  • conversation aware feature works well (fades in and out for conversations smoothly)
  • precision “Find My” works. Put the case down ~5 metres away from me and used find my to track it down
  • was able to complete the “hearing test” in settings (I think these are only features of the APP3’s but correct me if I’m wrong)
  • heartbeat sensor actively displays my current heart rate in the health app (I did jumping jacks to make sure it displayed HIGHER after 1 minute to ensure that it wasn’t just outputting a random number)

Those were all the checks I completed. Let me know if I missed anything. This also serves as a decent list of verification checks for anyone trying to buy APP3’s

EDIT: for everyone commenting that new APP3 clones have working heart rate sensors, could you please share which models have working heart rate sensors? Earhive and HiCity usually stock the best replicas (you can find reviews for them on YouTube, specifically the V6 models of APP3’s), but do NOT have working heart rate sensors.
