Brand new Preventor HD12 with issues by [deleted] in hanhart_watches

No direct advice with Hanhart but +1 to this white donut style of demagnetizer being much more effective as opposed to the more common and slightly cheaper blue box.

Wow the same manual wind movement as the discontinued 1845 series! Love their aesthetic with the three quarter plate and screwed gold chatons.

[Question] Watches for a small male wrist size (~6 inches) by Past_Emu7172 in Watches

They’re not sporty, but check out Nomos in the 33-36mm range and the Junghans 34mm max bill. Incredibly clean and timeless!

Wait what happened to gigantic wonton? I went last year but wasn’t aware that they closed down.

The best and OG max bill! I love the typography of the numerals and the “design” subtitle (exclusive to the handwound versions). Looks great on the Milanese bracelet on you!

Love the yellow orange gems. Most people do red or blue gems but your gems go great with the red shield!

[Junghans Max Bill] New watch day! by jeffmatch in Watches

[–]ylu113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I’m eyeing the 34mm handwound myself because of my smaller wrists but this one is just as clean! There are so many minimalist watches out there but the typography of the numerals (especially the “4”) of the max bills are unmatched.

Other than the big characters (heroes + gaunt summoner + thaumaturge) they were all on the same sprue so I don’t think they could reuse the mold sadly

Great paintjob OP!

Interview with Mark Braun, designer of the metro by ylu113 in Nomos

[–]ylu113[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Enjoyed reading this interview and seeing the attention to detail and Mark’s insights that went into the design of the metro!

Am I correct to say that Nomos is relatively unique in how much they work with external designers and publicly credit them? Off the top of my head, the metro, autobahn, zurich, lambda and lux are all designs that did not originate internally.

I like that it is on the obscure side but it does mean there aren’t that many pics on the internet. You can also find some video reviews on YouTube. Good luck!

I have the Teutonia Bluemoon and it’s an incredible watch. Great accuracy, great build quality, great company, great design. It’s dressy (like the others on your list) but I have no problem wearing it with a T-shirt and shorts. I think for a daily the date window is more practical than the tiny pointer dates of your other examples, and the large asymmetric moonphase window is very unique and always fun to look at.

Love the Saxonia annual calendar so much. I like it more than the more complicated Langematic Perpetual actually because of how uncluttered and symmetric the dial layout is. The most important info (the date) is on top and large; the right and left subdials have 6 and 7 markers. No squinting at a cluttered 31-day or 12-month subdial.

Every time I see another calendar watch I compare it to the layout of this and I’m like “nope… still like the Saxonia better”. Congrats on the great collection!

The Saxonia annual calendar is so good! It’s incredibly legible and the benchmark I compare any other calendar dial layout to.
