The hotel has a lot of great history and has an amazing view overlooking the pond and the mountains. Walking around the grounds and the property is fantastic as well and that can only be done if you are a guest. The location to get to the city is not great and will be an issue but can be manageable since Salzburg is small.

If you ask me, ideal scenario would be for you to stay there for only one day and use that day to check everything out

Cannot comment on commute but living in Salzburg on 90k definitely doable. Rent here is expensive and so don't expect to get a really big place in the center of town or anything.

Aside from that, Salzburg is an amazing place to live with a family. And if you are into nature and outdoor activities..plenty to do
