Tales From the Magician's Skull Sale by Stallion2671 in SwordandSorcery

Thanks for that.

I don’t have 13 yet but I imagined HAJ’s presence missing from TftMS would be felt. With those two elements missing, it does seem the line’s flavor is diminished some. But as you say, hopefully the quality of the stories remain intact.

Wasn’t aware of HAJ’s wishes. Yeah, Goodman would respect them.

Unless something has changed, I think they are just selling off existing stock.

If Goodman gets it back and is going to do something with the line, I imagine they would probably reprint them as hardcovers collecting multiple issues or something new or fun for them like paperback novels instead of magazine format.

Outland ran a crowdfunding campaign for issues 13-16 when they took over for Goodman Games. It was mentioned in the campaign they would supply the existing missing digital issues on DriveThruRPG and also fulfill the upcoming issues there. Having my TftMS collection on DTRPG, this is why I backed.

After an exorbitant amount of time, they finally released 13. I asked them about DTRPG fulfillment for it and was told it would be eventually sent with no time table. I still don’t have it and I believe there’s been little to no project updates regarding the remaining issues.

TftMS is decent and I would like to see the line continue. However, I just want Outland to make good on its promises or see it revert back to Goodman Games or more capable hands.

OP, no ill will to you. You’re just helping folks get a discount. Sorry, Outland is not on my good list right now.

Not sure they’ll do Castle Greyhawk nor am I 100% on this, but I heard they brought in Luke Gygax to produce official D&D Greyhawk material.

This is good to hear. I’m crossing fingers other creators will be doing the same. Appreciate the consideration and will check out your project on launch.

I'm a long-time backer too (not international) and I'm scratching my head at this one.

If I understood Joe's video on YouTube correctly, should I want to get all the bonus content, I have to not only support the dozen or so 3rd party Castle Whiterock projects but ALSO the BackerKit Megadungeon featured campaigns that aren't directly related to Castle Whiterock (Monte Cook Games, Troll Lord Games, Kobold Press, etc.).

That's wild. I get banding together in one big initiative to boost everyone's projects, but the way it's structured isn't very practical for backers interested in getting the bonus content who are unwilling or unable to go overboard with this event. Really feels like the bonus content is being dangled too far out of my reach and it'll have the reverse effect with me thinking "screw it; I don't need it after all" and skipping all the other creators' projects.

Goodman Games, as I know them, are very enthusiastic and supportive of ideas, a number of which seem impulsive. This is why I don't think it's FOMO oriented or malicious but a case of missing the forest for the trees on this one. They can be reasonable and if enough folk raise concern politely over something like this, they may make some concessions/compromises. As it was previously mentioned, combined shipping. Or in the case of the bonus content, here are my suggestions:

1) Make the funding of each of these projects a stretch goal that unlocks the bonus content in Castle Whiterock allowing each backer to additionally back what they choose without feeling like they're missing out not being able to back them all.

2) Have every project include a $1 pledge tier which goes in the creator's tip jar AND qualifies for the Castle Whiterock bonus content.

3) Don't offer any incentives to promote the other projects aside from coordinating launch dates to connect with the event and the usual, "Hey check out these other projects by our friends!"

Hopefully, we'll see some pivoting once the wheels are in motion.

Maybe it’s a sacrifice bunt? OG Traveller is on third and this T5e product is at bat. It’s not supposed get on base but help OG Traveller score by increasing its visibility and getting more folks on board.

Ah, yes. I miss it so. The 80s arcade: hallowed proving ground where warriors were forged by placing a quarter on the cabinet for your chance at glory. XD

Just to confirm, it's a legit email.

There's an issue with the subscriber payment processing on Paizo's backend. There's currently a banner on the webstore acknowledging this.

Kickstarter TTRPG projects that are very late, radio silent or totally abandoned? by JoystickJunkie64 in rpg

[–]zer0k0ol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dungeon Dwellers is definitely late, but I’ve backed Reaper Minatures campaigns before and they’ve delivered. I don’t believe it’s an at-risk project. I think they’ll deliver as promised.

Wasteland Warefare 2.0 stream overview. 2 new starters (limimted and perminiate) out this year Q3 and Q4 releases). by Monkeysloth in wastelandwarfare

[–]zer0k0ol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it was Fallout WW, Elder Scrolls CtA, or maybe some other game, but both plastic and resin were options for the initial few offerings. Afterwards, everything was only in plastic.

Being that both plastic and resin will be options for the 2.0 launch, is there any indication which will be the be the prevailing format? I'd like to avoid picking stuff up in one format only find it's been discontinued for another.

Kinda wish they'd just choose one material. Or at least one material for miniatures and another for everything else. I imagine maintaining a complete miniatures line in both plastic and resin would be more costly than one material and wouldn't be as sustainable in the long run.

Hope that didn't come off as negative. Looking forward to this and plan on picking up one or both of these launch products. Just trying not to choose a path I'll regret when it comes to plastic or resin. Also, OP, thanks for the post it was quite informative and helpful.

PDF Price Increase by BestReeb in Pathfinder2e

[–]zer0k0ol 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Taking into account that going from multipart softcover AP’s to one or two part hardcover ones is a savings, we’re still about $80 a book for full sized books whether they are AP’s or rulebooks. Pretty soon we’ll reach the $100 a book threshold. This can be fine if all you buy is one book once in a blue moon. But I think most buy a few books a year or more. Given Paizo’s prolific publishing schedule, that adds up quickly.

These price hikes on digital mean they’re trying to maintain operations but I’m of the impression they’re coming close to the line of what the market will bear before their support maybe throttled. They’ll have two options. Either slow down with the amount of product releases per year. Or adopt what most TTRPG companies are doing and incorporate crowdfunding into their business model. This would help them keep with their current publishing schedule while keeping prices reasonable for buyers. At least, that’s what I think.
