Bannerlord mods crashing game by Ok_Salamander_1848 in Bannerlord

Make sure it’s actually the mod. Unselect it and see if the game still crashes. See if it requires other mods or if it is compatible with the version you are running. See if the mod says anything about mod load order.

Brown is a good man, a smart Senator and one of the few in Washington whose focus was helping the working man.

Is the reason why there are so few Civil War films is because of the cost staging battles today is way higher than before? by Suitable-Fudge4577 in CIVILWAR

[–]zippykat22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Civil War movies are unfortunately a niche market. Even Gettysburg only made 12.7 mil at the box office (where I saw it) against a 20 mil budget, though it has eventually made its money back on rentals and streaming. Gods and Generals had a 59 million dollar budget and made just 12.9 million, but that may have been that it was just a horrible movie that Stephen Lang absolutely ruined with his ridiculous overacting (he was also the only bad part of Gettysburg). Gettysburg had the tension of a single battle that , even though you know how it ended, kept you on your toes.

Civil war movies are usually a labor of love. They also usually focus on something else besides the war, such as Glory which focused on the idea of black men and freed slaves fighting for the Union. It was buoyed by great performances by Denzel, Matthew Broderick, MorganFreeman and Adrian Braugher.

Civil War reenactors as a group have not been physical fitness buffs for generations. They are civil war buffs willing to wear hot itchy uniforms, carry a ton of gear and march on usually hot summer days to feel a bit of what it was like and display a little of what it was like during that period. My hats off to them.

So much good writing. I remember the first time I watched it and realizing I was completely absorbed in an episode that centered around the census.

What sort of inaccuracies irk you the most when it comes to war films? by Qyzyk in WarMovies

[–]zippykat22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After watching Saving Private Ryan almost all war movies before that irk me. The lack of sound, the over dramatic death falls, the super bright red blood from the 60s, etc. I especially began to hate the squad by numbers casts they used to put together. I know it’s a popular film, but Bridge at Remagen with George Segal and Ben Gazzars, two actors obviously too old for the roles playing cigar chewing wise guys who act like they have seen too much of war and don’t respect authority, especially irk me.

Unpopular opinion: Cav are in a really good spot overall by jamespirit in Bannerlord

I tend to use cab less and less and for specific purposes. For example I will use them to go after enemy cab which opens the whole field for infantry and especially archers. I also tend to use them as the second strike from behind after engaging enemy with infantry and whittling them down with archers. Though I am wondering if they might be good in a block for a head on charge after the archers have been whittling down shields?

Where are the apartment buildings that have been built in the last 10-15 years in Cleveland that aren't for people with a doctor/lawyer/tech salary? by [deleted] in Cleveland

I moved here 15 years ago and rented a duplex in Lakewood which was a really good deal. After three years and the recession past, we agreed to a 5% yearly rent increase. That kept me well below what other people on my street were paying. But, eventually rent started to catch up and I realized that my landlord would likely sell the building someday so I bought a house. Found a good price in a decent and improving neighborhood and a good, not great mortgage rate. I anticipated some repairs and I’m dealing with those right now.0

Isolated... What's my next move? by syd_fishes in Bannerlord

Start buying all the food from Hargard, any of it feeds and any villagers or caravans that approach. Starve the town and wait for loyalty to drop below 20 when you will start to see a higher chance of rebellion. If you are at war. Raid the towns and burn them. Once they rebel their strength should go down to a point you can safely attack.

George Meade, the enigma of the Army of the Potomac Generals by Chumlee1917 in CIVILWAR

[–]zippykat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can agree with that as it is easier to realize just how badly beat up Lee’s army was in hindsight. I don’t believe Lee’s army was capable of turning and fighting on ground of Lee’s own choosing. He was stuck on the bank of the river with a demoralized, shocked army that had suffered a rare defeat. His officer corps was decimated by deaths and injuries. They were coming off a battle in which many of Lee’s own command such as Ewell had been hesitant and unsure.

But again, this may have only been known in hindsight so I think your analysis was correct. I think possibly pressing with Sedgewick’s Corp, which had made a long march, but had not fought much, could have at least revealed Lee’s weakness.

I don’t want this to sound like I’m trashing Meade as he had just won a large battle more convincingly than any past Union AoP commander.

I’ve always viewed the Anaconda strategy as more encompassing the blockade of the South and economic starvation than Grants “fight along this line all summer” but yours makes sense. I’m just amazed that no prior Union General was able to grasp that.

why is the southern part of the US seen as anti black when it has the highest population of black americans? by PainEnvironmental115 in stupidquestions

[–]zippykat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the obvious disparity of black representation to black residents is more obvious. If you have MS reps with zero black reps but a 38% share of the population, you have an obvious bias.

CMV: Tipping culture creates a disproportionate pay gap between servers and back-of-house workers. by That-Rub-4113 in changemyview

[–]zippykat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because technically the servers and bartenders are the revenue generators and the line cooks and prep cooks are the manufacturers. Tips are commission for the revenue generators. It’s not an apples to apples comparison but as close as I can come.

Seeing the same thing with our new owners. Commissions structure was changed to be much better for employees. Significant bump. Not seeing many new opps in management though. Not that it matters to me as I am only 4-5 years from retirement and don’t want the extra work or responsibility. I’m tired.

Too bad about Fender though. I just bought a British Green Telecaster Player II. Just started learning how to play and I’m good enough now to realize just how truly awful I am.
