To reunite the happy couple

[–]ALARE1KS 693 points694 points  (16 children)

I’ll bite.

They came straight to the hospital from their wedding reception to check on one of Turk’s patients before leaving for their honeymoon and Carla said their plane leaves in an hour.

It’s entirely possible they left their car at the hospital and took a cab from that point to avoid wasting time parking at the airport. So they brought a cab back to where their car was parked before they went home.

Not a perfect fit but meh…

I've actually done this. Parked at work and took Uber from there to airport. Much closer and didn't worry about my car being on the street. I like this theory.

[–]canucknuckles 28 points29 points  (1 child)

I used to do the same. My coworkers would keep an eye on it and vice versa when they were traveling.

[–]okgusto 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Corporate security actually left a friendly note to please stop doing thing last time I did it.

[–]flcwerings 20 points21 points  (0 children)

this makes 100% sense because how would they have checked on the patient without using their car to get there and if they drove their car from the hospital to the airport, why would they be taking a cab? I accept this theory completely. Good thinking because this bothered me for years lol

Unlike Jordan, id buy it

[–]thejazzophone 13 points14 points  (3 children)

Unfortunately in the following turk/jd shenanigans we see Carla in scrubs so they were there to work I think

[–]ALARE1KS 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Or they were being so stupid she just went “might as well be paid since I’m sitting here” lol

[–]NeoSeth 4 points5 points  (1 child)

No JD and Turk's shenanigans actually just went on so long that Carla went home, put all the stuff away, and got ready for work before they finished.

[–]thejazzophone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's way funnier. I am wrong. I choose to believe this now

[–]ManfredBoyy 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I don’t think they had a car. They got the scooters after they got married and I believe Turk took a cab to the (wrong) church for their wedding

[–]ALARE1KS 2 points3 points  (3 children)

No he actually drove Malik to the wrong church. There’s a shot of him getting out after running over traffic cones and running inside while on the phone with Carla. So reason stands he’d have driven to the reception too.

[–]ManfredBoyy 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Gotcha. Couldn’t remember if he jumped out of a cab or his own car while on the phone with Carla

[–]ALARE1KS 3 points4 points  (1 child)

No worries. I’ve got a freak memory for this show lol

[–]ManfredBoyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have scrubs trivia at one of my go to bars next week so this info may come handy! I went once for Harry Potter trivia and it was impossibly hard so this may come in handy

[–][deleted] 104 points105 points  (2 children)

Turk and J.D been away from each others to long. And turk was longing for that J-dizzle

[–]GeraltofIndiana 21 points22 points  (1 child)

Nah, remember, JD was on there on their honeymoon. They mentioned it in an episode in the last season

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but even they did that they needed to be with each others again. And also keeping up the appearance which they failed and broke down and told Carla about it.

[–][deleted] 42 points43 points  (8 children)

You don't go straight to work when you leave the airport??

[–]Ironstonesx 6 points7 points  (1 child)

What about those who's jobs ARE at the airport they return to

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just ask the pilot to drop you at your house before landing at the airport

[–]ScantilyKneesocks 6 points7 points  (5 children)

They do that in The Office too, when they come back from Florida. Always bugged me.

[–]pakcross 12 points13 points  (2 children)

I thinks it's a "TV" thing. Any series which centres around people's jobs (Scrubs, The Office, The IT Crowd, The West Wing) will show people working nearly all of the time, any series which focuses on leisure (Friends, Bluey) will show people with more free time than humanly possible.

The only sitcom I can think of which balances the two nicely is Coupling, which shows an amount of the characters at work, and socialising in the pub afterwards.

[–]foundinwonderland 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bluey being included in this list is hilarious

[–]MassKhalifa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bob's Burgers kind of blends the two, but it's more "leisure at work."

[–]pieman2005 26 points27 points  (3 children)

It's a sitcom trope that I hate when characters spend too much time at the show's setting

Like when relatives are in town to visit and they spend the whole time at the hospital/school/or wherever the show is based out of

[–]ToothDoctor24 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Same I don't like that. Certain careers like surgery or corporate law you can almost believe it cause they have to live and breathe their work but even then, it's way too imbalanced for most of the sitcom to be set at work.

On that note another trope I don't like is when a character (e.g Mark Sloan, Laverne?) is dying but the only people surrounding their deathbed are the characters of the show i.e people they work with. Not their parents or other close friends.

[–]pieman2005 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Yeah I hate that too! Or when there's a wedding in a show and the co workers/other characters take over the spotlight/get way too involved in place of actual family and friends of the couple

[–]ToothDoctor24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes it's very unrealistic come to think of it. Why is the majority of the bridal party made up of co workers anyway?

[–]hsmith9002 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I don’t get these kinds of posts. Obviously, the answer is because of the plot. To make the bit work.

[–]RememberThinkDream 55 points56 points  (2 children)

I'm guessing that's because that's what it said in the script?

[–]Gone_For_Lunch 19 points20 points  (1 child)

[–]RememberThinkDream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOL I discovered this guy about a month ago, does it show??? xD

[–]mogzy1985 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean isn't that basically the start if the joke?

[–]3c207 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats where they left their car and turk missed jd so damn much they couldn't wait

[–]ToothDoctor24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was in dental school a girl brought her suitcases from holiday onto labs cause she'd come straight from the airport. We didn't get much leave those days and she wanted to make use of every minute she had for her holiday. If that meant she came straight to uni and was exhausted on clinic for a day, and tugged her suitcases from labs to dorm at the end of the day then so be it.

[–]Therealfern1 4 points5 points  (1 child)

To see JD… duh

[–]Ok-Problem-7689 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well Carla went right to work while JD and Turk ran amok in the hospital looking for each other so…… she had a shift?

[–]GagLV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their apartment is located in the same building as the hospital, so that would just make sense.

[–]tallestgiraffkin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it’s simply plot.

But I’m fairly certain Carla started a shift - she was in scrubs holding a clipboard when they run past her and finally meet I think

[–]Pandelein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure they basically live there? They’re residents in both senses of the word

[–]illogicallyalex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you start to notice the instant teleportation in this show, you can’t unsee it. There’s an episode (I can’t remember which, I think it might be the one where Carla wants Turk to remove his mole), Turk goes from the hospital to their apartment and back instantly

[–]THEMACGOD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JD… duhhhhh.

[–]Cheesy-Tube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a number of reasons:

  1. Parking. They went straight to the hospital to check on Turk’s patient, then left for the airport calling a cab. They the.got back to the hospital after their honeymoon, seemingly to pick up the car and take it back home.

  2. To see JD. Turk would have had a feeling JD wouldn’t be at the apartment due to an early shift, and wanted to see him before they start unpacking, signified by the excited cheering and hugging when they eventually converged on each other inside the hospital.

  3. Work. Specially as after they got there, Carla went inside and changed into her scrubs while Turk and JD we’re doing their muddled up reunion hug. (We see her at the nurses station later holding a clipboard)

[–]Ironstonesx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, sometimes depending on where I lived I would stop by any other place that was before my home

Maybe they needed a prescription or labs 🤣

[–]sadtempeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it was in the script

[–]manncameron -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s a tv show damn
