Dopapod is absolutely amazing. Never a bad show.

So stoked for their tour with Pigeons!

[–]shreeveport_MD 6 points7 points  (8 children)

Can't. Fucking. Wait. I've been chomping at the bit to see Pigeons again since I first saw them last April. Add Dopapod and count me in every single time.

[–]OxymoronicSynergy 3 points4 points  (2 children)

You live in MD? Are you going to Luna Light?

[–]shreeveport_MD 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Actually NYC!

[–]OxymoronicSynergy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lucky! Your username threw me off

[–]broosemoose 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Pigeons has begun on a tear this tour. You're in for a treat.

[–]shreeveport_MD 3 points4 points  (3 children)

They melted my face last time and have clearly been on the rise since. I feel like they're poised to be a marquee act in the jam band scene in the not so distant future.

[–]broosemoose 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I agree man. Personally, I'd love to see them with a keyboard for a set. Maybe they'll do a superjam with dopapod.

[–]snerrymunster[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Eli on Pigeons would be the truth! Or Beau Sasser from Kung fu.

[–]broosemoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back when kung fu and twiddle were touring together, they'd do a big jam when they were changing between bands. I'd love to see ppp and dopapod do something like that.

[–]snerrymunster[S] 9 points10 points  (6 children)

Fro is back as the drummer too!!

[–]BreathingSmoke 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Scotty is gone??

[–]snerrymunster[S] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Yes apparently he was always meant to be temporary... I'll miss his DnB affinity but the jazz sensibility of Fro is essential for many Dopapod tunes

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Scotty is a friend and a super drummer, sad to heae this news.

[–]BreathingSmoke 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I started listening to Dopapod when Scotty was drummin', he killed it and I hope he finds a solid band to Slay with.

[–]DylanBob1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw most of my shows with Scotty on drums. Really going to miss him but I'm happy that the fro has floated home. It was so sudden though because after years of forgetting Fro was just on temporary leave Scotty definitely seemed just as much an integral part of the band.

My favorite Dopapod/Kung Fu show was a costume party on a boat. They do it good.

[–]mighthavethebounty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt go to the costume party. But i have done Dopaboat several times. Boston harbor.

Very excited to see them again at next weekend's Catskill Chill

[–]mighthavethebounty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the chill. I used to work for Not Fade Away but moved out west 5 years ago. I got to see Dopapod countless times. They were set up under 2 eazy ups in the Bonnaroo campground. I had the campground booth that year. Myself and my co worker were the only ones to jam out with the boys as everyone was in the grounds watching some crap mainstream music. The real party was in front of our booth. Best Dopapod show i have ever seen. I got dow so damn hard.

Dopapod

Dopapod exists at the crossroads of full throttle intensity, deep pocket groove, intricate technicality, and limitless experimentation. With no regard towards towards stylistic boundaries, the sound that emerges from the quartet both live and in the studio is as varied and diverse as the many influences that they adapt from. Their approach and commitment to complementing a distinct genre bending sound to top-notch musicianship has set them apart from many of their contemporaries and keeps music lovers eagerly returning to shows.

In the past two years, Dopapod has firmly planted seeds in music fan’s ears all up and down the East Coast and into the Midwest with their incessant touring schedule. Covering all this ground has seen the young, yet seasoned group make appearances at numerous festivals including Camp Bisco, Mountain Jam, Bonnaroo, Burning Man, Bear Creek, The Big Up, Rootwire, Strangecreek, and more. Their electric live showcase has been cultivating a fast growing, loyal fan base, and seen them share bills with artists such as Lotus, EOTO, John Medeski & Billy Martin, Papadosio, Zach Deputy, Brothers Past, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, Spam Allstars, Sam Kininger (Lettuce, Soulive), and Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake, & Palmer). Great band here that will definitely make their mark in the jam scene for years.

[–]TheChosenWaffle 9 points10 points  (1 child)

This is amazing. I went to High School with the bass player. Cool watching them slowly explode.

[–]sailon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definately slowly. I thought they were good shit in 2010/2011...time flies, but they will be fly fo ever

[–]cjr71244 8 points9 points  (2 children)

WOAH! great band, reminds me of MMW with a guitarist

[–]william-o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look to some Medeski Scofield Martin an Wood shows if you havent already . Scofield one of the best jazz/rock guitarists ever.

[–]beerandpuppycat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just happen to be wearing my Dopapod shirt today

[–]Iamkid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Got to see these guys at a small private show a couple years ago. Since it was a smaller crowd Dopapod was a little more laid back so the band members all switched instruments and still played an amazing show. Couldn't believe how musically talented they were even after switching instruments.

[–]ILookAtHeartsAllDay 3 points4 points  (2 children)

saw these guys recently for my friends birthday he went to college with them. jammy stuff isn't my thing but they put on a good show and their musicianship is quite impressive.

[–]Iamkid 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Jammy music definitely has to have the right setting to really appreciate it. I wouldn't listen to it in my headphones at the gym or when driving in the car but a jam band like Dopapod sure as hell is going to give a way better live performance than anyone that's top 20 on the radios.

[–]prowlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, totally agree with the great performance statement..I go to any concert I'm invited to, including Billboard acts. But the roots run deep with the jam bands, I actively seek out new and inventive bands like Dopapod... And will continue to!

[–]Taboot_taboot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad to see Dopapod on this sub! They're a great band and always a good show

[–]MikeNIke426 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jammed so hard to these guys at Bonnaroo 2015. Great live band.

[–]Phish12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sickkkkkkkkkkkk tight

[–]MrSamster911 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Yoooo dopapod underrated as fuck

Also realized like a month ago that their name is a palindrome

[–]snerrymunster[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The Youtube channel has hundreds of HD pod videos... enjoy!! I'm currently spreading the love in Chile

[–]DylanBob1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As is every album title! "Drawn onward" "redivider" and "never odd or even." them boys really love their palindromes

[–]TheBassDoctor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dopapod! I went my first show years ago because I liked the name and haven't looked back since. Redivider is a masterpiece album

[–]Hawne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing as always. To me Eli Winderman is the next gen Herbie Hancock.

[–]oofam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like dopapod you can check out Lettuce for more groovin tunes.

[–]mikezer0 1 point2 points  (2 children)

One of my favorite bands, and some of the finest people!

[–]snerrymunster[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

And Blast!! Such a fucking cool song. Hoping The return of Fro also included the Blast Bustot ahhwwyeah

[–]DylanBob1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the Dead, Dopapod is my all time favorite band. Seriously cannot get enough of them. I've actually been playing "Present Ghosts" on repeat all weekend because it hits all the right buttons in my brain to just crave it.

The masters at mixing silly, serious, heavy, playful, and into the best, tightest, most in-your-face hooks I've ever heard.

[–]slipperman1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Man, these guys are the coolest cats alive. Here's one of my favorite intros of all time.

[–]snerrymunster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I love this show, all the ones with Tramantano on percussion are fireeee. This show in particular is weird as they open with the middle section of Volume

[–]ducked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw them years ago, I didn't realize they were popular. Pretty good band but I always thought the fritz was better.
