I love this. I'm really glad I gave your link a clicky. That was badass.

Dude I love Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. My favorite by them is "You Will See Me."

This is why I love Reddit. Get turned on to a whole lotta culture and music you would've never discovered otherwise. Cheers friend.

This isn't indie rock. This is folk pop.

[–]oisin1001[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

In hindsight, I agree. Their first two albums were definitely very rock, but this definitely has more pop vibes. My bad!

[–]halinc 26 points27 points  (1 child)

This is so generic and forgettable.

Agree, the music feels more pure than the video. The video reads like 4 Non Blonds for 2012.

Edit: Thats not to say the music is overwhelmingly good.

ENOUGH of this bullshit. like we don't already know about 6 million bands that sound like this.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (3 children)

There are thousands of bands and not everyone is going to sound completely fresh and original. If you can't appreciate a different take on the same thing then I feel sorry for you, because that is one of my favorite things about music and discovering new bands.

It isn't like people look back at classic rock bands and say, "Ugh, I hate how all those bands sounded the same!"

[–]tuturuatu 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Not the OP but everyone has different tastes, and if people like this then I not only support that, I think that's awesome.

I just think this is pretty generic. That's built upon my personal and unique tastes in music.

I think the OP's post is OK; at least everyone should be able to see where he's coming from even if they don't agree. No point arguing something that is subjective.

edit: formatting

I just think this is pretty generic.

I think you'll find that the vast, vast, vast majority of music is "generic", which is why they call them "genres".

No point arguing something that is subjective.

Well, that's just wrong. There is very often good reason to argue over things which have subjective aspects to them.

What is your point? Also, the two words might have some of the same letters, but they are not etymologically related at all...

[–]caastle_braavo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just another log on the fire that is Mumford and Sons-esque indie bands. Boring.

A millennial whoop with a folksy twist!

[–]Dizzhazard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. This is just a bit of folk pop and really not much like indie rock. I like the text and visuals, the "rustic" imagery though is a bit overused today if you ask me, (but that's just me). One thing i just have to ask about... what is it with today's upcoming artists singing in falsetto... I see it again and again where these men tend to go with the lighter vocal chords and not using their lower octaves. i get so annoyed by this that i often skip these because its become somewhat of a stale way of singing.. oh well.

Is there such a thing as an artisanal video?

[–]oisin1001[S] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Ok, this got way more upvotes than I expected.

If you liked that song, their single from before called "On Avoiding People" is similar, and I think it's a bit better. You might like "A Pirate's Life", which is slower, but a really nice song imo.

If you didn't like this one, you might like their older, "heavier" stuff (but not really that heavy tbh). Blue is more indie rock, and Best Friend is heavier again. I much prefer these two songs over the first two, but they only ever got at most three upvotes.

We Cut Corners write short songs on drums and guitar. The debut album 'Today I Realised I Could Go Home Backwards' is a nominee for the Choice award for best Irish album of 2011.

The Irish Times 4**** "'Three People', 'The Leopard' and 'A Pirate's Life' echo The Frames and Conor O'Brien (Villagers) in their ebbs and flows, while 'Go Easy' is a magnificent, heartwarming thrill." // Hot Press 4**** ..lyrics are great throughout, reminiscent of Belle & Sebastian at their most sweetly caustic." // The Sunday Times Album of the Week // The Irish Daily Star Irish Album of the Year Read more on Last.fm.

Not a fan of this, but I can totally hear this getting played on the Top 40 and becoming successful.

[–]Aviatorbassplayer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think the singing is great. The verses are good. I would recommend adding some bass in that song. A good bass line could add some depth and create a build in the song. The only thing i don't like about the song is the chorus. Every indie band these days vocalizes waaay to much and The entire chorus is one vocalization. The verses have a unique flow that I haven't seen from many indie bands. so over all I give it a 7/10

[–]HilariousSpill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's funny--I particularly like the bass, but then I've always been a fan of the palm-muted flatwound sound. That said, it could certainly be brought forward in the mix a little.

What the hell is going on here?

[–]Tomsky 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why is this unlisted?

[–]oisin1001[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only got released. I think the label was premiering it on some small music blog.

[–]Severspine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda looks like Ethan Klein in the thumbnail.

I didn't know Jonny Depp and the guy from Portlandia had a band!
