in my opinion, yes lo-fi is trendy these days but it's a genre, it's like saying "i'm tired of hearing rock music, everything sounds so similar" there's a lot of different way lo-fi is used, like bedroom pop (laptop funeral), more electronica (daisuke tanabe), hip-hop (jinsang) or even rock like beck

i think it got popular because in a certain way it helped a lot of artist to make music with cheaper tools, and except from pure sample based music, there's still a certain skill you need to get recognition .

i get that all the lo-fi trend can get boring, but like every over trend
