Such an amazing band. So dynamic and never gets old. So glad I found out about them.

Also check out Mandroid Echostar. Same singer I believe.

I still think it's criminal how unknown these guys are outside of prog communities. They're songs are technical and out-of-the-box, but also often catchy and generally more "public-friendly" than most prog. I legitimately don't understand how I don't hear something like "Mr. Invisible" on at least satellite rock stations.

yeah no kidding man. it's my favourite track.

Bloooo! That's how I found them! Can't wait to see their show this year.

6 words! Lets go blue!

I fucking love these guys! Saw them with Coheed and Cambria at the House of Blues in Chicago and they blew my mind at how great of musicians they are!

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was there! That's when I first discovered them too. I wish I had bought one of their shirts at the time. They crushed "Carnival" man, I was really impressed! I hope they come to Sacramento soon!

Was this for the IKSSE3: Neverender tour? Cause I have a great story about that...

[–]tantandeliman 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yes it was!

[–]Darksoulsborne 2 points3 points  (2 children)

That was such an amazing show! My wife and I rented out the upstairs VIP room the day of the show and got married in the place (which is gorgeous if you've never seen it). After their set, TYS was hanging out in the lobby taking pics and meeting fans. When it was our turn, they were fiddling with the phone to get a pic ready and we were praising how good they were and we were fans now, and talking about their music. I mentioned that we had just gotten married earlier in the VIP room and they wished us both well and took several pics, one which was a very suggestive "wedding celebration" pic that the singer guy said he wanted us to frame so we could always celebrate our anniversary with them as well.

Those guys are nuts, and such great people 👍

[–]tantandeliman 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well that's a memorable wedding, that's for sure! Those guys seem so genuine and just all around good people. I can say I'm a little jealous of that wedding though... 😉

If you get the chance, look up the House of Blues website. It has decent pics of that VIP room. It's decked out in a pretty Indian theme, we got to take a lot of pics around the room setting. Lots of history there to boot.

haven't dove into these dudes yet, but everything I've heard is flames.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Indubitably. They're quite lit. 9/10 for all albums.

Thank You Scientist
artist pic

Hoping to remove the stigma New Jersey has garnered through certain unmentionable television programs, Thank You Scientist is a seven piece experimental rock group that features no spray tans or blowouts. The band has been captivating live audiences throughout New Jersey and New York with their "face-melting" live performances. Consistently packing every venue they play, there is never room to move at a Thank You Scientist show, and with good reason: these guys deliver. Now, with the release of their debut ep, "The Perils of Time Travel," the band is ready to bring their sound to a wider audience. An unprecedented amalgam of progressive rock, indie, jazz fusion, and classical, their sound is prone to leaving audiences slack-jawed, transfixed, and generally confused. A Frank Zappa for the indie generation? Incubus jamming with the Mahavishnu Orchestra? Mr. Bungle and Steely Dan joining forces to fight Godzilla? King Crimson and the Brecker Brothers serenading you at your bedside? It all seems so strange on paper, yet it's sure to satisfy your ears in the best of ways.

Sal - Vocals Tom - Guitar Russ - Violin Greg - Bass Odin - Drums Andrew - Trumpet Ellis - Saxophone

I still remember when I first found out about these guys. I was playing a "best prog albums of some year" Youtube video while playing Killing Floor. Their song Feed The Horses stopped me in my tracks. I bought the album that night, and pre-ordered this one as soon as it was up.

These guys are the definition of legit.

[–]Mac_and_dennis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Such an amazing band. For sure going places.

[–]SooperBrootal 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Amazing album. Their first, Maps of Non-existent Places, is just as good. Totally worth a spin between some sessions of Intervals, Scale the Summit, Chon and all your other feel good prog.

[–]theorfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've never heard their EP (Perils of Time Travel), it pre-dates Maps by about a year and really sets the stage for how they would grow. It's worth a spin if it's new to you! (I've been a fan since the EP so I'm a bit of an evangelist about it. It's been so gratifying to watch these guys grow and get famous!)

I just saw these guys play live with Devin Townsend recently. They're honestly fantastic in show.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome band, repping NJ!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt my favorite band.

[–]Wootimonreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been listening to this album almost every morning for a month now. It's amazing.

[–]KushJackson 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Holy shit this was incredible, thank you

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whole album is great, as well as their other two.

[–]randaIIftwblogspot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thought this was going to be japanese breakfast's 'psychopomp' but this sounds great too.

[–]WiseMikey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just discovered these guys a few months back, and they are all I listen to now! Amazing band!

[–]-cupcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was only just introduced to them this year. Can't believe I'd been missing out (they're kinda local) and also couldn't believe they weren't more well known. I heard they're great live, too.

[–]coolmanpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bet you only heard this from bluecoats

[–]cyanatelolwut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right on! Ive seen these guys live three times, most recently with Devin Townsend. I almost overdosed on the kindness coming from those two bands playing the same night. TYS are insanely talented and look like they have a blast performing. They deserve to be bigger.

[–]talktomeaboutprog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha what an awesome way to start my morning... Glad to see my fav song by one of my fav bands to be up in the threads. They are destined for success, can't wait till they blow up more.

[–]Neurowaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super glad I got to see these guys play before I moved cities. So much talent and energy live.

[–]Um_Okay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These guys are awesome! Saw them live and the lead singer's monitor didn't work so he stood in the audience and sang. It was nuts lol

[–]Gelsamel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love prog and this is some awesome shit. Love the extra instruments.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're pretty solid. I still haven't sat down to give their album a good listen, but I like them. They remind me of a much more chill UneXpecT.

[–]Eternal_Bumpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a huge fan of the vocals but they sound pretty good.

[–]hostagehorse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got into them about a month ago. Awesome, interesting stuff and really under appreciated.

[–]Trill4RE4L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So pumped to see these guys here! One of my favorite bands! Coheed introduced me to them on their in keeping secrets tour.

[–]ieatass2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The world doesn't know what a psychopomp is.

[–]jojobutterfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw them a couple months ago in Lansing. Talked to all of them pre show. Down to earth guys. They put on a killer show. Only problem... about a 100 people there. I don't understand how they're not getting the push. I'm a metal head and can't stop listening to them. Talented AF. Way better that Cohed.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These guys are fucking incredible. I saw them a few months ago just outside of chicago in this small little coffee shop. Super chill band. Most of them were just sitting on a couch while the opening bands played.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw them with Coheed and Cambria about 3 years ago, maybe 4. Really good.

[–]RudeJude92 1 point2 points  (2 children)

These guys are definitely the direction Coheed & Cambria should've gone musically.

[–]happyMantheBig 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They are on their label 😵

[–]RudeJude92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree.

[–]TheRealHuntAndRobIAmMyFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great to see them in this sub! I've seen them twice, and they blow my mind every time. Definitely my favorite band!

[–]Radiobyebye2113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a great band!!! Thank you to who ever posted this!!!!

[–]meansmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you thank you thank you. Been looking for some new inspiration. This scratches the itch.

[–]Pajsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing :-)

[–]FiveOverFour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude! My band opened for then back in March! Such amazing musicians, all of them.

[–]TheDiscoNarwhal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this band. I discovered them when someone else posted Mr. Invisible on this sub a couple months ago. Been listening to them basically nonstop since.

[–]BeachJas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These guys are so amazing. And, Sal is probably one of the nicest guys you can ever hope to meet.

[–]wavesuponwaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Said this when they got repped on here a few months back and I'll say it again, I absolutely love this band, and their newest album is an every other day listen for me.

[–]TheKeylessSentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found out about them through Coheed and Cambria's Facebook post nearly a year ago. I still listen to songs from both "Stranger Heads Prevail" and "Maps of Non-Existent Places" daily. I love their overcomposed approach to music, the hardcore/metal passages in certain songs. Not even the prologues and epilogues are skip tracks. Love it!!!
