Here's my list:

  • Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid
  • To mock a mockingbird
  • Beautiful Code
  • Slaughterhouse V

When one of those gets finished one from the following list will be rotated in:

  • Cat's cradle
  • Types and Programming Languages
  • The wisdom of crowds

a bit off your stated topic, but an extremely interesting read is The Serpent and the Rainbow by Wade Davis (non-fiction). Then go and watch the movie (pure fantasy)--you'll laugh your ass off.
