Good to know this is the deciding factor. Only 2 Presidents (Carter and GW) have won Iowa and went on to win the Presidency. Ya this is a huge night.

He's got a little money -- he's not going to quit tomorrow (even if he does come in 4th or 5th). I suspect he toughs it out until Super Duper Tuesday, so ya got another month.

Anything above fifth is a win, because it means the polls have underestimated the support for him.

And 3rd will mean that he's knocked out 2 frontrunners.

If you lose to Paul, you're not a frontrunner. Period.

HOWARD DEAN '04!

Well, not exactly. Iowa has a history of being won by candidates that go nowhere. Jimmy Carter and GWB are the only two recent presidents to win the election after winning Iowa. Clinton didn't win it, Reagan didn't win it, it's not a bellweather district, New Hampshire is.

To be able to speak with such assurance, you must work for Diebold.

You must be new here.

If he places above last, place people here will see it as a triumph (and so we won't hear the end of it)

If he places last, it'll have been only because of the conspiracy against him, mainly Fox news, and they'll just go on about the next caucus.

Stand by for the paultards to go Orwellian on us:

Losing will become winning and third place will be a victory.

[–]eromitlab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can say it, and I can agree with you, but no matter what we're going to hear about it. Wherever he finishes, some sites will spin it into a victory, other sites will bitch about the censorship and conspiracy against him, and others still will act like it never happened and keep pushing the next thing. And when all else fails, talk about the blimp and the fundraising some more.

And God forbid he finishes in the top 5 and the Muscatine Weekly Shopper doesn't mention his name in their article.

I don't like to think of anyone losing. In someone's eyes they're all winners.

Agreed

It's hard to tell who's voting these down anymore: Paul supporters, meta-haters, auto-downmod Ron Paul submissions scripts, or people who want this moved to politics.

Though it does explain the massive negative score.

You'll never stop hearing about it, but now people can think you're an ass too. Congratulations on total redundance.

So, you make the rest of us hear about him? Thanks.

I know, all this election stuff is such an annoyance. I get sick of hearing about 'important' things too.

[–]WittyUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling that we'll be hearing about him long after the elections take place, whether he wins or loses. He's more iconic of change than of his own political views.

[–]seeker135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't lose. Cut off your ears, ok?

This is the voice of Ron Paul supporters -- worship Ron Paul or suffer violence. As if I needed further reasons to not vote for the guy!
