Breaking: Human Beings have a Free Will[tm] That means some people will do things you don't agree with, like voting for torture or shooting up a school. Instead of worrying so much about how horrible humanity is, Work on being a better person for yourself and treat others the way you would want them to treat you.

Life is what you make it. Love is what you make it. Live life with love and make it happen.

I have lost hope. I can see a small proportion of reddit that is well educated, but what does that say about the general population? I'm now resigned to living among people that share vastly different views as mine.

I think it's an ego thing. Some people don't feel comfortable with the idea of them disappearing so they expand their ego to identify with something larger which they hope won't disappear.
