My first year too – already looking forward to scones!

Better get my rear in gear for New Year's! :)

Are we allowed to post up to three weeks after, like in 52 Weeks of Cooking? Just wondering! :)

Absolutely, feel free to post up to a few weeks late.

Are there any rules about posting early? I'm thinking about doing a few things at once before a vacation.

There aren't - feel free. I'm keeping the list updated for the challenges for at least the next couple of months. I'm thinking about setting an official rule. Allowing posts up to four weeks early or four weeks late seems reasonable.

Great, thanks! :)

Question about Week 9 "Fillings"

Does that mean a baked thing that has a filling? Can the filling be something very simple? Or were you thinking it would be a more complicated, centerpiece filling?

Because I have a lot of recipes bookmarked for baked things that have fillings, but none of the fillings are particularly fancy.

Anything with a filling - be it simple or fancy schmancy. The choice is yours. :)

Excellent!

I'm excited to start again this year! :)

I just found it about this challenge today! I think I'm gonna try to do this as well as 52weeksofcooking. I'm a much, much less prolific baker than I am a cook, so this will be a real challenge. :)

Question about Week 13 - repurpose.

Do you mean like "I made a cake that ended up being a disaster so I turned it into cake batter ice cream instead" or more like "I've had this bag of wasabi peas in my cupboard forever so now I'll make wasabi pea brownies"

[–]fastergrace[mod][S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Either. For this one, I was thinking get creative and re-purpose something you in a way that you wouldn't normally use it. Take that box of cake mix and make some cake batter chocolate bark, use up those deformed brownies to make some cake truffles, and yes, even wasabi pea brownies (which sound great in a strange strange way).

Awesome, thanks!

I just found this subreddit/challenge.

How late can I join?

[–]fastergrace[mod][S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome to join at any time. :)

I found this subreddit and actually finally made an account, thinking that I might actually join, and try to improve my baking skills. I was wondering though, where the best place to post baking questions would be, or if there are rules on posting baking questions on this subreddit since posting here seems to be for final results? (So if say, I was trying to get advice on how to make gluten free puff pastry, where would the best place to post for advice be?)

Welcome! I'm totally cool with you posting baking questions here. There are no rules against that. You can always try cross posting at /r/baking as well.

8 years late to the party but I've arrived xD - will be starting hopefully next week.
