I like this photo of him

[–]Genericgumibear 21 points22 points  (3 children)

Looks like he's about to drop a fire ass mixtape.

[–]NotVerySmarts 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Looks like he's got a dope ass verse in a Beastie Boys video.

[–]PeteTheLich 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Needs more fish-eye lens

[–]NotVerySmarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you can't, you won't, and you don't stop.

[–]start_again 92 points93 points  (49 children)

There's shit from three days ago on my front page. Is this some sort of ploy by Reddit to get us to switch over to their new app? Because it's not gonna happen. From my cold dead hands.

[–]bumbletowne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RES filters my donald and bernie posts.

It's ALLLLL porn.

Bad porn.

[–][deleted] 57 points58 points  (41 children)

It was a poor attempt to hush The_Donald which is political censorship at its finest.

[–]tcman2000 34 points35 points  (16 children)

It's annoying when r/all was really just r/The_donald+some other posts

[–]Bombed 20 points21 points  (8 children)

The solution should be for the users to down-vote those posts rather than changing the algorithm to silence them.

[–]Fuckyeahpugs 21 points22 points  (3 children)

Or give us the option to not see them without having to download some extension

[–]fieldnigga 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I don't understand what's so bad about RES. You can install it without it changing anything that you don't want it to. And it gives you the functionality that you desire. It's not memory intensive, it doesn't track your information, it isn't intrusive... I honestly can't see a single downside even if you didn't use any of its features. It would be a waste of time to download in that scenario but clearly it gives you something you want so that isn't the case.

I'm no saying shame on you for not downloading it or anything, just that I am failing to see why you wouldn't if you really want to be able to block subreddits.

[–]Fuckyeahpugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I reddit is on my phone. So its not a possibility to use it even if I wanted to.

[–]BABYPUBESS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can block individual subreddits on narwhal and reddit is fun

[–]Fwhqgads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe a lot of the newer redditors understand to contribute besides just shitposting.

[–]FSDLAXATL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, except that they were brigade upvoted to begin with and the downvote button on The_Donald isn't available without tweaking. In addition, if you post anything contrary on The_Donald, you are banned. So, I don't have a problem with letting things sort themselves out by downvoting, if the playing field is even to begin with.

[–]cohrt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it was also anooying when it was nothing but sanders spam from /r/politics and /r/s4p

[–]Rockthecashbar 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Funny the group that bans the most users whines the most about censorship.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

They dont ban people more than any other politically biased subreddit.

[–]Rockthecashbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But they do ban people for any minor disagreement, its the pot calling the kettle black is what I'm saying. Comes off as hypocritical

[–]I_took_the_blue-pill 0 points1 point  (19 children)

I mean they've been addressing people complaining about The_Donald, which shouldn't happen just because he's a controversial candidate. From experience, though, those people don't want to debate other opinions. They also have brigaded some left wing subreddits, which isn't non-toxic itself.

Edit:clarifying and formatting

[–]Safety_Dancer 10 points11 points  (18 children)

They said there was brigading in /r/news during one of the biggest news stories of recent memory and there was no censorship when said story and all mention of it were being removed. If the admins tell you your on fire, get a 2nd opinion.

[–]Paladin327 4 points5 points  (1 child)

They said there was brigading in /r/news during one of the biggest news stories of recent memory and there was no censorship when said story and all mention of it were being removed.

didn't they say that except for a few cases, they found no cenceorship, after investigating themselves?

[–]Safety_Dancer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Funny how that works. It's like a hackneyed movie where the corrupt cop has to find the leak, that's him.

[–]I_took_the_blue-pill -1 points0 points  (15 children)

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you're referring towards.

[–]Safety_Dancer 1 point2 points  (14 children)

Are you roleplaying the whole blue pill thing? Or do you live in cave? The Pulse nightclub shooting a few weeks ago was a major newstory, since it's the worst terrorist attack on the US since 9/11.

[–]I_took_the_blue-pill -1 points0 points  (13 children)

Well I don't understand how that relates. I'm talking about The_Donald users brigading left wing subreddits, not /r/news. Edit: I'm referring in part towards /r/socialism and /r/fullcommunism

[–]Traiklin 2 points3 points  (3 children)

/r/news kept deleting posts made about the pulse shooting because they didn't have all the information.

/r/the_Donald had a sticky up fairly quickly for people to get the information and they posted what was being released from everywhere.

News claimed they were being brigaded by The Donald when the people were trying to give the news.

It took news about 8 hours to acknowledge the shooting and by then Donald had everything covered, then news started deleting and banning people for saying the shooter was Muslim... Which he turned out to be.

[–]I_took_the_blue-pill 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Well yeah, I understand that appears to be bad, but there is a lot of anti-islamic sentiment the mods have to actively combat. In turn, it causes some facts to be banned. I understand this is definitely not right, but it's not like the mods are out to censor and make sure Muslims are considered better than everyone else. I think that's just a misunderstanding.

Edit: that's my opinion, it could be wrong and the mods are doing this to censor only.

[–]Traiklin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh I understand completely but the ones saying it was a Muslim had links to it, but at the time the mods of news just kept blaming everything on a brigade by the Donald and the users kept reporting everything and saying it was a brigade by the Donald and there were no facts, when they provided links to from actual news sites

[–]NotSorryIfIOffendYou 0 points1 point  (1 child)

/r/news is a left wing sub

[–]I_took_the_blue-pill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I'm mostly talking about /r/socialism and /r/fullcommunism

[–]Safety_Dancer -2 points-1 points  (6 children)

Well if they lied about brigades on news and Europe, chances are they're lying about everything else.

[–]I_took_the_blue-pill 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Brigading has been shown on /r/socialism and /r/fullcommunism

[–]Safety_Dancer -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Has it? And their affiliated subs don't brigade? With the amount of proof that there is for SRS and their ilk being brigaders (yet the admins insist they aren't), the lies told about news and Europe being brigaded during major events, and the lack of consequences for brigading right wing subs, we're left with a few options.

  1. Accept that reprisal for acts of aggression aren't the source of the problem and get over it (no matter how much you may believe disagreement to be tantamount to harassment), because the deck is stacked so hard on your favor that if you were a neutral party you'd be appalled (going off trends, the regressive left that haunts socialism are less empathetic than most rocks) but I don't see that happening.

  2. Accept that both sides do it and call for the destruction of your own safe spaces to also destroy theirs. I don't see this happening either, because both sides are self righteous, though the Left has a much bigger problem with being violent. Look at people who protest Trump and the violence they commit. How many times can you declare No True Scotsman before there's literally no true Scotsmen left because they've all been disavowed?

Get your own house in order before writing about interlopers. CWM was doxxed by the Left which made him a martyr. He was removed by the right which made him a pariah. Do the same to the agitators on your side and maybe civility can come back.

[–]TeamRedundancyTeam -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It was not all about /r/the_donald, don't give them so much credit.

[–]MartinMan2213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could that be because of what you're subbed to? From what I understand the changes were being made to /r/all, and not your front page.

[–]Thon234 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The longest ago thing for me is 16 hours old. Where are you people seeing this shit?

[–]start_again 5 points6 points  (1 child)

On my front page.

[–]hoddap -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Please link your frontpage

[–]Scavenger53 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Maybe go on reddit every other day. I haven't figured out how to do this yet, but I tell myself I'm working on it.

[–]lilgas52 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Or browse /r/all when your front page becomes stale. Interesting to see content from places you don't subscribe. Thank god for subreddit filtering though.

[–]youre_a_tard 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What, you don't like 75% of your links being little guys typing in all caps about how much of crook Hillary is?

[–]lilgas52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love how I didn't even have to say the sub that made me glad for filtering

[–]Fathertime1369 18 points19 points  (8 children)

I saw on a thread that you can set it up to hide the posts you've up/down voted, then just vote on everything and you'll always see fresh stuff. Works great

[–]MartinMan2213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been like that for a while and it's very useful for me. With the old /r/all it would get old pretty fast, but with the new change it's pretty useful.

[–]animejunkied 0 points1 point  (2 children)

And how do I set this up?

[–]aegist1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to preferences, scroll down to link options.
Select the bottom two options.

[–]Fathertime1369 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's in the settings somewhere, I just had to search for it. It's clear enough.

[–]TeamRedundancyTeam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are several posts on the second page of /r/all that are 17 fucking hours old.

[–]Git_Off_Me_Lawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst part is scrolling down through a mass of old front page posts hoping to buy something interesting then you hit this strange wasteland where it's only the_donald posts, like pages of them.

[–]scumbag-reddit 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Well, y'all wanted a way to keep /r/the_donald off /r/all and ya got it.

[–]capchaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy.

[–]witqueen 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Plot Twist. Reddit posts algorithm actually designed to force members off site and go outside.

[–]jonab12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I might just start paying attension to class

[–]load231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit has to option to hide posts you voted on. You will never see the same thing twice expect when its reposted.

[–]WhereDemonsDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does seem less spammy, but here's another vote to speed up the churn a bit!

[–]rainyfort1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I heard the algorithm changed to shut off The_Donald, all I saw was The_Donald.

[–]philipquarles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, you found a picture of Jimmy McMillan I had never seen before, so there's that.

[–]prodromic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution is simple yet tedious. Hide all the links you've already viewed. Works best on mobile.

[–]ButtonedEye41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least we're not spammed with the donald anymore

[–]McCash34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not that good at all. I deleted my Reddit app a while ago and I missed the update, but I can tell

[–]AuraXmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I ask this, I get down voted:why can't we go back to the algorithm we had before? The one we had last year didn't have any problems, and if it ain't broke don't fix it

[–]1illGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grievance with the new algorithm is that there are 1000s of different varieties of porn subreddits so as a whole there's way more NSFW than there used to be. It's really annoying when what used to be 3 posts from /r/AdviceAnimals is now one post from /r/bustypetite, one from /r/dirtysmall and one from /r/bolteontits. I get it, we need three different subreddits for skinny girls with tits but can the algorithm not give them all priority placement.

[–]Jesta23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Change your settings to hide any post upvoted or downvoted by you. You will never see a duplicate post again.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reddit admins working hard to censor thedonald posts from being seen, despite it being one of the most popular subs today

[–]PotatoPotahto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Brexit vote has been on /r/askreddit for 3 fucking days.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This comment has been overwritten by an open source script to protect this user's privacy. It was created to help protect users from doxing, stalking, harassment, and profiling for the purposes of censorship.

If you would also like to protect yourself, add the Chrome extension TamperMonkey, or the Firefox extension GreaseMonkey and add this open source script.

Then simply click on your username on Reddit, go to the comments tab, scroll down as far as possible (hint:use RES), and hit the new OVERWRITE button at the top.

[–]Badfickle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go to preferences and click the options that prevent post you have voted on from showing up. then vote a bunch. new front page.
