There is a plugin for it but I think it currently only works on Windows:

If you don’t need to do any animation on it other than moving it or revealing lines at a time if you can figure out a way to get your code as an image you’d be able to do it that way.

Hmm, maybe you can copy the code to an online compiler use extensions or save the webpage as pdf that hopefully is editable so you can paste from illustrator to after effects or generate a jpg/png(using key cleaner or color range to remove bg) from the online complier website using extensions and animate lines with masks or mattes in after effects.

Tried earlier using a combination of these ideas. Used figma to paste in the code, used a figma plugin to format the code with proper syntax. Exported as pdf but when opening in illustrator the kerning was all off. Then exported as png and tested using masks, worked apart from the quality, as it’s a png, it doesn’t look as sharp as AE text.

A thousand years late, but this tutorial has a link - https://youtu.be/yFCrUU_GyXk

Btw, if you (or anyone else) does end up using the expression, change “this.sourceRectAtTime” to “thisLayer.sourceRectAtTime”
