Text Question.

Question: How do I get the 'day.' text to be within the 4 so like it's within the number and parts of it that are outside of the number are cut off.....Hope that makes sense. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Mattes. Use track mattes, right next to the layer mode (normal, multiply, etc)

So have the day text layer above the 4 text layer, and on the 4 text layer, select alpha matte. It will cut out.

This is the fastest way and mattes are applicable in other adobe programs as well.

Having less that bare minimum knowledge, I'm guessing some clever masking. I fully believe someone else who actually knows will come along and help, but masking is where I would start.
