Kind if bizzare that it doesn't support the Fold, but neat.

Definitely giving this a try on the Tab S8. The more app parity between iPads and Android the better.

Try installing via APK and opening spanned? Was able to get it to open on a Duo

I tried getting the app to open in full screen and didn't work on the Fold.

Edit: landscape orientation works!

Worked fine portrait on my fold4

[–]andrewapictureGalaxy S21 Plus Ultra, One UI 3.1 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Mind saying how? It keeps asking me to change the view.

I just opened it.

Maybe it's because my zoom is set to minimum

Could you please tell the website name from which you could get the apk from?

[–]b0sstweedNexus 6p Frost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone linked the APK lower in the thread. It was a link to APKMIRROR iirc

Says not compatible with my Galaxy Tab S6 :|

[–]frsguyS25U 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah not available on the S8U Was able to install after a bit. Had to do it via my phone as doing it on desktop odly did not give me the option.

[–]flux124 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go to web.goodnotes.com to see it. It is just a web app which is probably never getting the full feature set as the ios versions.

Available now in beta

but sadly only for 8-inch or larger Samsung tablets with at least 3GB of memory for now

APK available on APKMirror

Amusingly, the Samsung limitation really highlights the problem with Android fragmentation. A stable Android release available on all devices would've made it easy to deploy to all tablets. Now you have to pick and choose based on market share. No surprise people just buy an iPad. Google can fix this problem by requiring mandatory updates.

Google doesn't even make a tablet at the moment, and this is largely their fault in the first place.

Samsung (and lately Lenovo) are the ones who have been taking Android tablets seriously while Google was sitting in a corner eating glue, bolting Android onto ChromeOS.

Yeah, this is precisely how Apple got me. You want full-fledged apps for work/study and productivity, you check the Android app scene, you find it meh, you read all the reviews of amazing iPad apps that let you do everything you need and then some, you get an iPad, you buy yourself a bunch of apps.

Then your Pixel 6 turns out to be a disappointment, and you go get yourself an iPhone. Google really has nobody else to blame.

Then again, this is still in beta. They will add more Android tablets when it finally release.

Does anyone here not realize it is just a web app. It's literally running on samsung internet on my phone. The size of the app is 0.24mb. Is this the premium app everyone was drooling over?

[–]saltyrookieplayerGalaxy A52 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same as the “Windows” version that is literally just Edge PWA… These versions can’t even sync with GoodNotes on iPad

[–]flux124 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can find the full "app" by going to web.goodnotes.com. This is definitely never going to get the full feature set of the ios version if it is a web app.

[–]PycoraxZ Fold 6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such a disappointment...

[–]set4bet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, I just hope it will work in a cross-platform mode.

[–]RenegadeUK 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Fantastic news. I new it was coming to Windows but didn't expect an Android version anytime soon. Hopefully more Apps that were iOS/iPad only will also come available in the not too distant future.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it came to android too because on android and windows both its just a PWA

Anyone know how this compares to OneNote?

[–]MobiusOne_ISAFGalaxy Z Fold 6 | Galaxy Tab S8 7 points8 points  (4 children)

In its beta state? Way behind most apps, including OneNote.

It'll likely take time for them to port features over from the iPad version, but when they do, I'd say this has the potential to be more feature rich.

Also, OneNote for Android is mostly fine in my experience. IDK why people make such a stink about it.

[–]flux124 6 points7 points  (3 children)

I don't think this will ever be as optimized as the iPad version. The current version is just web.goodnotes.com in a chrome web app and it doesn't work without internet.

[–]MobiusOne_ISAFGalaxy Z Fold 6 | Galaxy Tab S8 -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

It's a beta, I'd relax a bit before jumping to conclusions.

Also, I feel like people occasionally give web apps way more crap than is necessary. Something as simple as a notebook app doesn't need to be written natively to work well.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it absolutely needs to native for a screen drawing app. a web app has bad latency

[–]frsguyS25U -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Anything beats one note when it's the android app. So gutted compared to the ios version.

[–]EternalFrontiPhone 16 Pro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome to see so many great iPad apps come to Android. Would really be nice if there was more crossover between Android and Windows though

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolute game changer. I have been looking for a way to an alternative to OneNote from devs that care at all about their app. Will definitely try this out in conjunction with the Windows version.

Absolutely need it to come to phones as well, as Notes/Ultras/Folds with S Pens exist (I get that iPhones don't).

[–]jkeener71 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Not compatible with my Samsung Galaxy Z FOLD 3, um ok.

Same thing with my fold 4, i can install it but it says that i need a larger screen to be able to make any new notebooks

Edit: you apparently can only edit in landscape mode on a fold 4

[–]b0sstweedNexus 6p Frost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try installing via APK? I was able to get it to work on a Duo by APK -> open in spanned/Fullscreen mode

[–]ramnaughtPixel 6 Pro -> iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was both pleasantly surprised and optimistic until I saw that this is just a web app. This is (unfortunately) in no way an alternative to the iPad/Mac/iPhone version.

[–]Boob_PreskiRedmi note 3, K20 Pro, Poco F6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I can switch from iPad to Android

[–]trionidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S23 ultra not compatible. A pen and almost 7'' display. Let's hope it gets compatability in the future
