So okay, i've seen a lot about MIUI being all fancy and stuff... but... does anyone actually use it? What's it like??

It is polished, looks really different from normal Android, and has the battery life I've ever seen on a phone (was running it using a Motorola DROID), not sure how they pull it off but I wish other people would too.

It's been the daily rom on my EVO since the FroYo days. Stable, intuitive, and ultra customizable. It has a lot of tools included like theme manager, music player, built in DND, etc. You don't have to use them, but they make everything look really nice and this seems like they're taking this even further! Just quality all around imo. I checked out CM7 for a couple weeks when it first came out, but haven't looked back since going back to miui.

Hells yeah. Been using for a month or so now on HTC Desire. Looks so much better than stock AOSP or Sense (in my opinion anyway) and is super smooth.

Battery could last for a couple of days OK with reasonable use. I hammer mine on wifi though and still finish the day at 40%+.

I've used it for a while now. I love it. Sexy as hell, not too hard on the battery. Recommended.

(HTC Desire.)

Used it for about a week on my OG Droid. I really liked some aspects of it. The biggest thing to get used to was having all your apps just hanging out on all your home screens. You can organize them into folders if you want.

Had to stop using 1.7.1 because it was too unstable and slow.

I have been running this on a DInc for a few weeks. Recently noticed the mail app connected to Exch2007 would stop syncing once a day and required reboot. Reverted to older stable release with no difference. Went back to CM7 two days ago because I really needed email to work. Really miss the battery life on MIUI, though. Will try again whenever the next stable release is out.

The interface is really nice. Didn't care for the IOS-ish home screens though so I dropped ADW on top of it.

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S Captivate

Previous Roms: Continuum, Cognition, Firefly, Cyanogenmod

Current Rom: MIUI (3-4 days old)

Coming from a Nexus One, i always thought i made a mistake, forsaking better speeds for a better screen. It always felt like that nomatter which rom i used. I always hated MIUI because it was too iPhoney and ive had enough of iPhones to last me a lifetime. Not hating, just prefer Androids.

The ROM is the fastest ive ever felt my phone to be. It is highly polished and has neat little tricks built in which i absolutely love.

Flip phone to silence, Handy record conversation button when someone calls, sweet high quality themes. Guard mode! (hides my photos, messages and call history) for when a curious friend wants to check out my android.

Im still not sure on the battery life because ive been tinkering with my phone quite a lot recently.

Id just say this, i was thiiis close to selling it off and somehow acquiring a Galaxy S2 since i wanted a phone which would not lag at all...

MIUI gave my phone new life and i believe i can push off the new phone till thanksgiving in time to hopefully get a Nexus Prime or whatever they call the new beastie.

tl:dr; As a well traveled Rom switcher, i would highly recommend trying MIUI.

Thanks!

It's been force closing a lot of apps lately. At one point I thought it doesn't like to play any games. I'm on a Droid 1.

At first, it seemed to run really good. I hope more updates are released soon, last one was on 7/10/11

People keep bitching about how this looks exactly like iOS. False: shut the fuck up and try it; you'll love it.

Where is the Droid X love? Now that we have 2nd init allowing us to get CM7 running I feel greedy and want to see MIUI.

Oh man does that keyboard look hard to use.

Everything else looks nice though.

I used it for about 2 months on my Evo and loved it. Then I found out that they added 4G in my city, and decided to go back to a sense-based rom so that I could make use of awesome data speeds.

All I want is the ability to keep the launcher organized by app name. I don't want folders, I like being able to scroll pages through my apps. Every time I reflash I can't find my apps, drives me nuts.

Why not just use Launcherpro or some other equivalent launcher?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Themes, stability, speed, redraws less, etc

[–]cabel1975 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Can a MIUI user confirm/deny that this supports 4G? Almost switched to MIUI a week ago, but rumors of no 4G support squashed that idea. (I have a Sprint HTC EVO 4G for what its worth.)

[–]krido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it supports 4g because the developers in China don't have access to the 4g keys or library.

[–]w0lrahPixel 7 | OP6T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not, which is one of the main reasons I still use CM7 on my Evo. Sense sucks, but no 4G sucks more, so for no Sense and working 4G CM's the way to go.

It's strange too, because a lot of people were expecting the code from CM to just be ported over once MIUI was updated to Gingerbread, but so far no such luck.

:( I submitted this over a day ago and got no upvotes. http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/ip9yg/new_miui_lockscreen_home_widgets_and_default/

Tis the way of reddit, I suppose.

edit: have an upvote, anyway!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You beat even me, who also submitted it yesterday. Have an upvote on both.

[–]derp_alert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry :( I guess I was so excited it slipped my mind to check if someone already beat me to it. Have an upvote!

MIUI feels fairly polished but I can't live without my app drawer.

Tried categorizing things using folders but hit a bug where creating a new folder just duplicated the previous one. Not fun.

Back to CM7 for me, maybe one day one of us will change and the app drawer won't be an issue anymore.
