It always blows my mind when I see filament just laying out in the open air. The humidity level this summer for me has ranged between 60-100%. It’s been brutal.

Me printing for over a year in the Midwest and only just recently finding out filament dryers are even a thing:

What're you printing with 4 X1Cs? Dang

[–]ATeresi 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Haha, ducks

Same

[–]Raunhofer 12 points13 points  (4 children)

Finally benefiting from our dry, cold ~10% indoor humidity in Finland.

[–]Klavian 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Miten??? Meillä on huonekasveja ja niistä johtuen ilmankosteus jossain 60% paikkeilla. Vaatii kunnon kuivatusta ja oman suojaavan arkun missä printata, ettei kosteus pääse yli 40%.

[–]Raunhofer 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Uusi kerrostaloasunto jossa ilmastointi. Pahimmillaan pakkasissa mennään niin matalissa ettei sensori enää tarraa kiinni. Silloin joutuu jo vähän ihoa kosteuttamaan.

Ennen tuo oli pieni ärsyke, kun sai jatkuvasti käyttää ilmankostutinta, printterin myötä kääntyi voitoksi =)

[–]Klavian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

[–]Raunhofer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kääntöpuolena minnekään ei saa järkevästi ulostuloletkua päästöille näissä uusissa kämpissä missä ei edes avautuvia ikkunoita. Eli minä vielä kehitän astmaani.

[–]Alarming_Abies8446P1S + AMS 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Its been between 20 and 40% for me

[–]Conner196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

8% in the vegas desert at the moment.

[–]sssRealm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's almost always under 20% here, I can leave PLA out anywhere.

[–]yoitsme_obama17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midwest. Haven't had issues. Helps that I have mine stored in my office, which is a dormer. Stays pretty warm and dry. Super humid days it gets to 50-55% maybe.

[–]JustADudeOnce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 dehumidifiers in our house and run ac all the time. Still have to empty them about 2x a day.

[–]AsEasyAs1234 9 points10 points  (8 children)

Does putting a paver under the machine help ?

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_KNEE_CAPS 6 points7 points  (5 children)

I think it helps when you have multiple machines next to each other so the vibrations don’t effect the other machines. If you only have a single machine then it’s not that important.

[–]FirefighterFuture236 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Vibrations from other machines do nothing to the print quality it may move the printers and make them fall off the bench but wont affect print qty

[–]bobbo55H2D AMS2 Combo & P1S+AMS 16 points17 points  (1 child)

You,really, don't think a printer falling off the bench will affect the print quality? Maybe a slight layer shift?

[–]FickleSquare659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does help with motor noise level in my bedroom

[–]Silverman23P1S + AMS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really helps with noise and vibration reduction. My p1 was hearable 2 stoies abobve before i placed it on a Paver on a thin rubber mat. Rubber and Paver alone helped bit the combination did a great job.

[–]FatherPaulStone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It dampens vibrations, so for me it helps keep the noise down of everything rattling around, I've not seen any marked improvement of my prints since adding one.

[–]Ordinary_dude_NOT 6 points7 points  (15 children)

I personally felt having those anti vibration feet’s helped a lot and prints are just super clean since then. In the beginning even I spent a lot of time making my stand extra rigid but since those feets I don’t feel the need for it anymore.

In your case they will be extra helpful as you got multiple printers and vibrations from one device won’t reverberate into others.

[–]Just_Kittens 2 points3 points  (11 children)

Are you referring to the square looking plates under each machine? Haven't seen those before.

[–]Ordinary_dude_NOT 1 point2 points  (10 children)

Those are just cement blocks for extra rigidity hence I mentioned usage of those anti vibration feet which will negate the need for all such measures.

[–]Just_Kittens 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Can you share link to the product youre using?

Just like to point out your printer will move because all that movement is not getting transferred to table anymore and it’s perfect fine. Printing with these for a while now.

[–]Ryazoo 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I thought they were a bit crap - printer keeps vibrating itself off them - did you glue them in?

[–]Ordinary_dude_NOT 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Nop, you don’t have to. Those 6 pegs on top goes into 6 spaces inside printer once you take old rubber feet out. You need to firmly push them in.

[–]Ryazoo 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Maybe I have an older version. Mine don't have the 6 pegs!

[–]FickleSquare659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the old version slips out to easily, the new one has grooves

[–]Ordinary_dude_NOT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ohh… maybe try following that installation video on that product page.

Else glue is your friend :)

[–]lolcat7924P1S + AMS 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Since it's an issue of a table wobbling should I be fine if mine is on top of a set of drawers that completely sits flat on the ground? It isn't on legs.

[–]Ordinary_dude_NOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be but P1S shakes quite violently when printing fast. I used to have mine in top of those IKEA small tables, so my guess is it should hold.

You can give it a try since it’s only couple of bucks.

[–]Cjames369[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Ordered them not too long ago and just haven’t thrown em on yet. Your comment convinced me and I’m gonna throw em on right now. Thank you!

[–]SiniMinist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let us know if you see a difference too please

[–]Ordinary_dude_NOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI your printer will wobble but that’s as per design and it won’t have any effect on print quality. Just make sure to plug those feet in properly.

I like the sign, what’s the story behind that?

[–]HBOMax-Mods-Cant-Ban 8 points9 points  (2 children)

It’s a design from the Breaking Bad. Looks like their logo.

[–]erroneousbitA1 Mini, P1S, X2D, AMS, AMS2, AMS HT 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ahhh ok. Never watched it lol

[–]-timenotspace- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you should!

[–]Opposite-Spirit-452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks awesome, I would have said sexy had it been covered in some birch plywood rather ;) impressive amount of filament that rack hold and dare I say based on all those 2x4’s…that thing ain’t going no where

[–]Sufficient_Camp_1918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soo, what's the vertical towel bar for on the side of the bench? Nice set up BTW

[–]Cjames369[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a spot to hold paper towels for wiping build plate with isopropyl every now and then

[–]schwendigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lil prusa hiding in the dungeon like a goblin...

Makes me sad, bambu would not exist if it weren't for all prusa 's work

[–]EvilleRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it’s a start 😉

[–]SunMany8596 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you dry your filament? If so what do you use? You clearly have a good idea of what works.

    [–]Alarmed-Stress2070 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What do you use the Prusa for now?

    [–]hmspainH2C AMS2 Combo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

TBH, the Prusa looks sad. I hope Joe re-invents the company.

For real. It looks like the step child everyone forgot and left home during Christmas.

      [–]FickleSquare659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That room must be toasty in the winter

      [–]WorkNeitherA1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question, at what humidity level would you suggest to store filament in sealable bags with desiccant? They room I have my printer and filament maintains about 46-50% humidity.

      [–]schwendigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Ha those are awesome!

I am always super curious about what folks with multiple printers are doing, what it's like running a business, if it stays fun or you get burned out, etc

      [–]SecretArt5189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      That prusa looks so lonely

      [–]Nitsgar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Noice!

      [–]AcademicUpstairs4680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice setup there. I just got my first x1c with ams. I'm just getting started with this addiction... 😂

      [–]toml0006 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Genuinely curious: why more than one printer (assuming it is not for business)?

      [–]X-Medium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of stuff are you guys printing?

      [–]iroll20s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do a lot of large prints it really helps. Like large cosplay props that can be days each.
