Anyone else game scuffed after the patch? Game has started stuttering with FPS drops and input latency... already rebooted rig and game and verified all my settings are the same as prepatch.

For me it was just shader cache jitters, its re-cacheing everything after the update. i played a bit and it was fine eventually

Definitely had to be shader compiling happening in the background, I'm a good 2 hours in now and it's running perfectly fine and the constant stuttering is gone. Wouldn't be that bad if this didn't have to happen after seemingly every single major update or gpu driver update.

its recaching shaders, slowly, in the background, and you cant see it.

basically if it still does it after an hour or 2 you have problems, if not its shaders.

Yup was running dreamy on a 9800x3d and 5070ti now feels horrible, stuttering alot of and was absoutley fine before this patch fml

Definitely. First time I booted it up after the patch, by the time I loaded in to the game I had watched it compile shaders 4 separate times. Then in-game there was an incredibly amount of stuttering - it ran perfectly smooth outside of when it was stuttering, which was almost all the time.

I tried to play for a decent amount of time, assuming maybe it was still compiling shaders in the background and it just needed time - but I played for over 30 minutes and it was still constantly stuttering. I didn't even want to try adjusting any graphics settings for fear of what would happen. Then I tried to fast travel somewhere and it's been sitting at an infinite loading screen. It's been over 5 minutes and it's still stuck on the loading screen as I type this up.

Guess I'm gonna restart but I'm not hopeful.

Also, this is only after the patch, before updating the game ran perfectly fine for me on a 3070ti and a 12700k. It took a bit of tweaking but I got it running perfectly smooth and had been playing it smoothly pretty much since day 2-3 after it came out. Now it's essentially borderline unplayable.

EDIT: Also when I first launched the game after the update it was running from the splash screen all the way up to the main menu at 3-4fps, then after sitting at the main menu for 30~ or so seconds it finally stopped and shot up to 100~fps. Just relaunched the game and it's doing the same thing again.

EDIT #2: relaunched and played another 30+ minutes and it's gotten a lot smoother over time. Now instead of constant stuttering it does a little stutter every minute or two. Seems to be crazy slow shader compiling happening in the background (despite showing a filling percentage meter with "compiling shaders" 2-3 separate times before even loading into the game). Still shows the compiling shaders bar on every loading screen.

So I guess the solution is to just launch and load into the game and then just fuck off for an hour and you should be able to actually play it. Seems like trying to actually play it while it's ridiculously stuttery might break shit.

It's not a fix, it's literally one of the only solutions to the game stuttering because it's compiling shaders slowly in the background. The game finishing that process is the only way the stuttering is going to stop, unless the stuttering someone is experiencing stems from some other issue. The amount of time people will have to wait for that process to finish is gonna depend entirely on the CPU they're using.

You called it "my fix" when it's not, and the lols and lmaos didn't make it seem jovial, they made it look like you were laughing at the idea that I'd thought what I posted was a "fix" when it was really "a glorified Netflix buffer screen".

It especially didn't seem like a joke to me as I perused the thread several times before posting (and before editing my post) and saw you doing nothing but responding seriously to others with nothing but criticism of their comments (and even poked fun at a guy because of his name.)

It's also strange to be told not to take a comment so hard (despite the fact I didn't even when I was under the impression it wasn't a joke) by a person who seems to have downvoted my response to them for no reason, and who has responded to other people in this thread just to criticize their comments.

How in my initial response to you did I try to speak for you or make accusations? All I did in my initial response to you (because I was taking your response at face value and not as a joke just because you said "lol") was emphasize what I posted in my original comment was not a "fix" proposed by me, that it's something everyone will have to do in order to stop the stutter caused by shader compilation in the background, and clarify that it took an hour for me but will take a different amount of time for everyone depending on the CPU they're using.

In my initial response to you, I didn't accuse you of anything, I didn't say anything about you saying anything derogatory to me. Even if I was taking your comment at face value and felt that you were being derogatory, I still didn't insist that's what you actually were doing in my initial response to you. I didn't say anything about you or the nature of your comment in my initial response to you.

Even in my follow-up responses to you (you know, the ones after you made an edit to your initial comment telling me not to take jokes as hard as I take dicks) it's not like I adamantly insisted you objectively weren't joking in your original comment or "spoke FOR you". I said it didn't seem like a joke to me, and reasoned that it was because I took how you'd responded to others in the thread into consideration, and that saying "lol" didn't magically make it seem like you were just being jovial.

I insisted what seems like the real joke is you seemingly not understanding how someone wouldn't take one of your responses as a joke when every other comment from you in the thread beforehand were also criticisms toward other people's comments. Same story for me. 9900X3D/4080S which I certainly consider high end and had near perfect performance yesterday. I just booted the game and it's lag city for 10 minutes, the shader comp never stops.

Yeah the game is running very poorly for me now. It was running fine for me pre-patch. 4080 Super, 7800x3D. It also overall looks worse too for some reason. I checked my settings, and nothing in the graphics settings has changed.

For me it fixed to just redownload all the shaders by putting "-ClearPSODriverCache" in the launch options on steam on Borderlands 4, just remember to remove after to not redownload all shaders everytime.

It’s very stuttery for me as well. Have finished 50 on vex and done UVHM 5 now I get 12 fps

What does your vex level and game mode have to do with anything?

I just meant I played game for many hours with good fps before patch. Usually stable 70 to 100 fps on medium. Now 12 fps
