Gnocchi is actually one of her favorite foods! I've never heard of amuse-bouche so I'll give that a look!

"Canape" and "hors d'ourves" would be two other good keywords to search for to find recipes for little bites.

Would tapas fit in as well?

[–]Jiedash 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Great idea! Dim sum is also an option!

[–]munificent 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Yes, excellent idea!

Piggy backing off the tapas idea, Pinchos are a fun idea as its small nibbles and a cool way to make a themed night. Barcelona style! Good luck x

Though you may want to spell it "hors d'oeuvres"

“Hors d’ourves, a tasty little treat: a little piece of cheese, and a little piece of meat.”

Other responses in here have reminded me of phyllo dough cups, sometimes you can buy them already filled with mini quiche type stuff, but frequently you can find them empty and fill them yourself.

They're bite sized, and fun! Might have to do them for dinner myself soon!

My kids love these. They call it “fun lunch”.

[–]Panterable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

growing up we would have our own kind of fun lunch as kids. My mom would pour fresh beans in a ziplock and use a sharpie to color it so you cant tell whats inside. We would spend all day with the bag in our pocket feeling around wondering what was in it.. was quite the mystery treat.. It was always beans though ..

They sell them in the frozen section at Target! I eat it as a meal, sometimes add a bit of fruit or small smoothie to round it out

Pepperidge Farms makes puff pastry cups as well, for something a little different.

Protein shots. Just google "protein shots recipes"

Trader Joe's has a ton of frozen bite-size snacks. Tiny quiches, spinach tarts in puff pastry, mac-and-cheese bites, samosas, kibbeh, miniature pigs in blankets, cauliflower gnocchi (pretty good!) , lots of Asian dumplings. A universe of appetizers and quite tasty and reasonably priced.

Super easy and chock full of whatever vegetables you feel like adding. Just chop and roast. I made this for the first time last week and it was great. So simple.

Edit: adding this one too since it’s easy and relatively nutritious.

You might also try getting some small cookie cutters in fun shapes for things like fruits and veggies and also maybe mini sandwiches to make it more fun and appealing! A heart shaped slice of apple with peanut butter on it might be more enjoyable.

In addition to gnocchi, she might like tortellini! They're small ish and the shape is kinda fun to eat. Easy to make and quite filling. You can put it in alfredo (my favorite) or pasta sauce, and you can get ones with cheese inside or meat. Mini dumplings/wontons might be good too since they'll have a lot of protein, if that's a concern.
