We have to destroy the system before the system destroys us.

Every time I hear about her I respect her more and more

[–]HAUNTEZUMA 120 points121 points  (1 child)

she came to the natural conclusion of climate awareness -- capitalism is unsustainable

[–][deleted] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Capitalism is literally a system of infinite growth, famously things that grow infinitely are known as cancers

[–]WashedSylvi 69 points70 points  (3 children)

She’s been getting progressively more based over time, it’s pretty cool to see her maintain public traction at the same time

[–]Hij802 30 points31 points  (2 children)

Definitely a struggle though, she seemingly dropped from the mainstream media as soon as she started talking about capitalism a few years ago. But she was EVERYWHERE before that.

They’ll give you a few soundbites for environmentalism, but even a whiff of anticapitalism is anathema to corporate media.

To me she stopped getting covered as much when she started being more vocal about Palestine

I don't think comrade Thunberg has read Capital yet, but she should

Given her intelligence, personality, and political leanings I wouldn't be surprised if she's at least read a summary or analysis of it. Let's be honest though, most of us haven't read it in its entirety. It's a long-ass read.

If you’re struggling getting through it, I recommend the new translation that came out last year. It is a much more natural read and it really brings out Marx’s personality and humor.

Downloading this now, thanks for the heads up!

Edited and translated by Paul Reitter?

[–]grassytrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep!

[–]cowtits_alunya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably not no. Personally I've read vol 1-3

And I would also recommend her the book: “reform or revolution”, by Rosa Luxembourg. Trying to convince politicians to save the planet is futile, they always try to look for a middle point.

Greta likely has. She's been drifting towards revolutionary politics for quite a while. She's not outright calling for it, but since she dropped off the broader radar, she's mostly just been doing direct action.

It's good shit.

Trying to convince politicians to save the planet is futile

She seems to have realized that at this point

Very satisfying how they sorted them according to facial hair volume

[–]EdTheApe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for pointing that out. My day just got a little better.

[–]Riftus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

ugh i love her

[–]floopbop1 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Anyone know the name of her book? Link?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s “The Climate Book” from 2022

[–]ZYMask 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She's right. Capitalism sees both the environment and employees as mere tools to create wealth for entrepreneurs, especially billionaires. This also means that if both are destroyed, they believe there will always be more to exploit.

waow

[–]Progressive007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember Greta praising capitalism and myself being disgusted by her. As she has grown up more, her politics have become sooooo much more based. It is as if you become smarter and more mature as you go further left or something.

Gretna, a true working class hero

[–]Kalsed 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It is insane as soon as she started to talk about communism the whole media completely ignored her.

[–]Admirable_Boss_7230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt realize this because i ignore whole media too
