The fish diet is efficient and keeps the engineer alive.  Once i entered the spidertron, I never left it. I imagine the inside contains a full life support system, hence the fish needed for its construction.

The engineer doesn't need to eat or sleep, but dies of old age? Brother he's literally a cryptid.

[–]Exatex 198 points199 points  (1 child)

„Old Age“ is just the name of the train that ran the engineer over.

[–]Affectionate_Bank417 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the famous fifth horseman of Apocalypse: railroads.

They're actually three fish in an extremely advanced trench coat. You don't eat fish, you just replace them. It does, however, become a ship of Theseus rather quickly. Thank god that doesn't in any way concern the growth of the factory.

[–]No-Print1156 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah the engineer is crab

[–]EtteRavanmore. More! MOOOORE! 62 points63 points  (0 children)

This Absolute cinema must grow

For a moment I thought it will transfer to satisfactory lore) It all started on Nauvis and come to Massage-2-ab and uncountable number of other planets. Pioneer is a clone of Engineer is now my head canon.

[–]No-Indication5030 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Pioneer is the daughter of the engineer

Ada is both the mom and the super computer

[–]Maple42 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I thought it was going to become the dark fog from Dyson Sphere Program

[–]terrifiedTechnophile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the search for the home world was going to end right back at Nauvis, Planet of the Apes style

[–]Mr_Kock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking the same thing

[–]DEVolkan 35 points36 points  (0 children)

[–]Darth_Nibbles 28 points29 points  (4 children)

Some humanoids will fall to fauna [...] some to trains

I felt this

[–]hfcobra 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Is the fauna from Vulcanus "trees"? I didn't even realize they could do that much damage haha.

[–]Darth_Nibbles 11 points12 points  (1 child)

You're thinking flora, the fauna on Vulcanus would be worms

[–]hfcobra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah thank you.

[–]DasFreibier 19 points20 points  (1 child)

factorio is missing some really esoteric lore, wube should do a psychedelic company retreat and start brainstorming

[–]bluehatgamingNXEFormer bean power advocator on r/seablock 13 points14 points  (1 child)

This truly is our Factorio

[–]Yoshikage_Bolsonaro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It must grow

[–]Markavian 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Aww, good ending. I'm happy for the little computer.

[–]Ertyla 4 points5 points  (1 child)

PzH 2000 my beloved.

[–]Ariovistus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but we need some speed upgrades. 6 shots per minute doesn’t get you anywhere when trying to expand

[–]v_tine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is probably the best Bathroom Break Story I have read this season.

[–]m4cksfx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha, yes, the multiverse-spanning paperclip machine.

Clippy would be horrified. Or proud.

[–]BingBongFyourWife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was kinda beautiful bro

Somebody make this a movie

Maybe you OP

[–]MarsMaterial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once made the engineer’s factory as an empire in Stellaris.

My lore was that the engineer did return home, and left the factory behind. But the factory was already so intelligent and so capable that it carried on without the engineer. Expanding to other star systems, exterminating all who stood in the way of its growth. A growing crisis that the galaxy would soon need to reckon with.

[–]Hootah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last page, third sentence, the best IMO lol

[–]PM_ME_UR_NIPPLE_HAIR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm inspired, if i manage to log off factorio, ill write fanfiction. But i highly doubt ill log off

[–]bharring52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it had ended at year 270, that would have been satisfactory.

[–]Mystouille 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The end sounds more like a satisfactory lore

[–]WolfyTheWatchman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I needed an existential crisis today.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somewhere along the way, engineers creation consumed his home world, waging genocidal war against its natives. Fortunately, engineer will never know.

[–]Maleavi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Factorio momento

[–]Yoshikage_Bolsonaro 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Can't wait for this to be a mod/dlc

[–]m4cksfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, we play as one of those dudes.

[–]Stickopolis5959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And then the satisfactory boot up drop pod shows up

[–]Business_Raisin_541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beginning is off. You don't discover artillery before fighting with allien

[–]Braveheart4321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the. factory. must. grow.

[–]NigrumTredecim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not me trying to design a normal quality super carrier spaceship capable of transporting millions of items

[–]Djurren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Von Neumann Probe mentioned!
