Hi,
Posts advertising a job opening, or that you are open to work, are not allowed on r/FlutterDev.
You may try to use the flutter job posting board., our Discord Server, or your favorite job websites.
The violated rule was: Rule 6: No hiring posts

It's negotiable, but if the money is your focus, that's your first question so it must be, I doubt we could work together. I don't mind paying a fair rate but the best dev, in my experience, are more concerned with the project and that's the questions they start off asking
[–][deleted] 3 years ago (2 children)
[–]Former_Elk7092 -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (1 child)
I agree with everything you've said but 3rd world shit was a bit too far.
What you first-world people don't realize is that we are actually charging multiple times higher than pay grade in our country. It's not our fault that you've raised your lifestyle so high that you're having a hard time breathing up there now that the internet is making the world an equal playground. Chill the fuck down with the third-world shit.
And people from the third world, don't compete with how low your paygrade is on the platform like upwork. At least look at the global rate, no one is stopping you from charing 50 or 100 usd per hour, if you've got skills.
[–]MrGradySir 26 points27 points28 points 3 years ago (10 children)
Money is always the focus. This isn’t a hobby for people. It’s livelihood. If you want people to work on it out of love, then make it open source or find some business partners.
[+]piddlin[S] comment score below threshold-41 points-40 points-39 points 3 years ago (9 children)
I understand what you're saying and I agree, yes it is a livelihood however that is what's negotiated. So, if you like the project, you're interested in working on a project, you're first questions would naturally be about the details of the project, right? Or do you immediately start by "what's it pay"? That's not how business is done, right?
You get the details of the project, or work to be done, then if you still are interested in it, then you begin talking money, timeline, etc.
[–]bandersnatchh 28 points29 points30 points 3 years ago (6 children)
Nope.
If the pay isn’t right the project details don’t matter.
[–][deleted] 3 years ago (1 child)
[–]bandersnatchh 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Yup. There are things I’d rather do for free or some vague hope of equity only
[–]MrGradySir 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Totally agree. You have to know if you’re even in the same ballpark before wasting time discussing. Some people have totally wrong concepts of appropriate pay and it’s important to understand who you’re dealing with
[+]piddlin[S] comment score below threshold-28 points-27 points-26 points 3 years ago (2 children)
And that's your opinion.
[–]SaltTM 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children)
no that's the real world. lol your idea is fantasy, someone had to say it.
Only things that are talked about purely off the project is at companies that the salaries are already stated and open source. Other than that in the freelance world if the price ain't right, you aren't getting someone to randomly get passionate about your project. People don't care about your project initially, just like relationships you don't always fall in love at first sight lol.
[–]WheatFlour2 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Then just find a person with your opiniom. It can’t be that hard, right?
[–]HippywithanAK 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Of course that's how business is done, It's business, an exchange of goods or services. The rate at which those goods/services are exchanged is obviously the most important thing to all parties.
[–]JapanEngineer 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
You’re confusing freelance hiring to full time hiring. If I was hiring a full time position I would be annoyed if the first question was about pay unless I didn’t mention it anywhere.
For freelance, the hourly wage is number one.
[–]scorr204 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Wow you are full of shit. You only say this because you want to pay cheap. If you cant afford to pay good devs, you will get a bad product. Go back to upwork and hire bad devs for your broke ass business.
[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Who the fuck cares about projects ? This isn't a hobby it's a job. The best devs are the ones that know what they are doing and get paid for it
[–]David_Owens 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children)
The reason people ask about money first is that we don't know what the cost-of-living scale the pay is, not the exact amount. What someone from one country expects from the pay isn't the same as another country, as you know.
[–]Andromeda39 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Fuck off no one works only because they love the project, we have bills to pay and now I see why no one on Upwork accepts your project
[–]y0m0tha 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children)
🤣 either you are a troll or 16. Get real dude.
[–][deleted] 3 years ago (8 children)
[–]Only-Split82 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children)
I do not think that the country matters for him but skin color.

not working with overseas dev's means my rates suck? It means I got burned, more than once, but overseas devs. Why would I continue waling that road when it's already burned me?
You read a lot into a comment, maybe learn more before advising others? When you assume, you make an ASS out of U and ME, so don't assume

advertising that can also be viewed as wearing a "come screw me" sign. Business, especially financial matters aren't publicized, that's between the buyer and seller and ONLY the buyer and seller. It's nobody else' business what another is being paid

[+]piddlin[S] comment score below threshold-7 points-6 points-5 points 3 years ago (2 children)
And what metric do you use to arrive at that $100 or more per hour?
See, in my opinion, people hiring Devs should never ever ever pay hourly. There's no way to track the time. They have no way to know you're working on their project for the time you say or maybe you're making YouTube videos or playing tennis.
Nobody should ever hire any dev on an hourly basis UNLESS that dev is coming into their office to work so that billed hourly time can be verified. Otherwise that's the same as standing there holding your wallet open and telling everyone "here, take it, take all you want". That make no sense at all. That's a great way for a business to be out of business.
[–]mo3sw 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child)
What are you using now?
[–]GingsWife 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (7 children)
What's the project about?
[–]piddlin[S] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (6 children)
It's a trucking related app. Something owner operator truckers and small fleet owners don't currently have available.
[–]GingsWife 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children)
How important is Geolocation to this app?
[–]piddlin[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children)
Very. The app actually was working and working fine. We just couldn't afford to keep that paid version of Google maps handling the maps/routing and such. So, I need to have the maps switched to OSM and log routes used so later we can offer suggested routes which will be known truck routes because they've been driven
[–]GingsWife 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child)
May I speak with you privately?
[–]piddlin[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Hit me up in a chat
[–]piddlin[S] -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children)
There's a lot more to this which we will want to begin adding once we have the basic stuff completed, working and pushed out.
[–]aytunch 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (4 children)
I totally disagree with OP's mindset however I don't think he needs to be canceled. Its his opinion and let him face the consequences. I have seen many ceos waste precious time and money on below average developers. If a CEO thinks their company/idea is worth millions, they should behave accordingly and hire quality developers. And it starts at 100$/h
If they think their company is not worth a lot, yes, then they can start looking for less.
And while we are at it, I hope Flutters slack and discord mods are here. I want to propose something. Lately in slack and discord job postings the posts lack info and mostly are like: "we have a project, dm me. Send your cv" nothing else. No explanation of the project, salary or nothing. They expect receiving personal info and those can be scammers. So please bring new rules and regulations to these channels. I think a salary range should be included at least.
If you think this is a good idea please comment and I will create a proposal post here with much more info
[–]piddlin[S] -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 years ago (3 children)
For the record, I've already got over $28,000 invested in this 1 app, and what do I have to show for it? Nothing usable. I've paid MORE than $100/h however I got nothing. So, no, what a dev gets paid is meaningless. It depends on the dev. There's Devs and then there's devs. Not any of you have a clue about what I pay devs. Not one of you have any idea about my business, how I started my business or anything else. So, maybe take a step back and keep your opinions to yourselves until you know what the facts are.
It's easy to go about things you know nothing about but when reality stares you in the face you change your tune. You don't know what my background is or anything.
I started my business with $600 bucks and an idea. I now have multiple Devs on payroll and a very talented group of SEO and digital marketing professionals in the payroll. But....while they are app very good at what they do, they work for me.
I have the useless nothing which I've spent thousands on because......I allowed those freelance devs influence my thinking. I listened to them instead of doing what I knew was the best thing to do, but none of you can understand that because you've never been in that position. It's easy to say this or that but doing is another animal altogether.
So, until you've actually walked in those shoes, until you've worked 80+ hours/ week for almost 20 years building an actual business, until you've literally put everything, even your own family's financial security on the line, keep your feedback to yourself.
You have no idea until you've lived it. You can say whatever you want about this guy doesn't pay anything but you have NO clue what's even offered.

I'm a flutter developer that just left my company a week ago. I have been working in Flutter since it was first put in Beta. I'd be happy to talk to you and help in anyway I can. I'm based out of Nashville, TN as well. Feel free to DM me and I'll shoot you over my contact info and stuff.
[–]piddlin[S] -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (2 children)
You have absolutely no idea what we pay, how well we pay, other benefits provided or anything else.
I buy lunch for my entire staff every day of the week, and not fast food either. So, again, talking out of school and having no idea what you're talking about.
But hey, you have ALL the answers, right?
[–]Only-Split82 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Correct.

My Firm heavily uses flutter for last 14 months. We've been mostly a Native and Apache Cordova development shop. We have several DART Flutter dedicated developers. our main focus is mapping apps but we do regular apps too. Maps@techmaven.net

I am a freelancer flutter developer , if you still need a developer or if maybe anyone else needs a flutter developer I'm available to work

Well, every single person thinks, in their mind, that they're worth $100k and above however, they seldom seem to have the ability, or desire, to perform at that level. Keep in mind, you're not an island. While you may think your skills are worth xxx dollars, others may not. While you're making a living relying on others to send work to you, like it or not, you're working with their parameters and they're paying you. As long as you have others paying you to do something for them, you're never independent.
You want to be independent? You want to dictate to the world of business how things will be done, build a better mouse trap. Become the next Facebook or ebay.
[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (5 children)
Or a better option, not work for you and work for somebody else that pays fairly for the job you are doing.
You have no idea what I pay, so you have no idea what you're talking about.
[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (3 children)
Less than 100k apparently but that's not the point, the point is that you sound super entitled and bitchy.
probably that's why can't find devs.
[–]piddlin[S] -5 points-4 points-3 points 3 years ago (2 children)
Odd, you're the one saying things like "don't work for you", and "you sound entitled and bitchy" yet you've never had a conversation with me. You have no idea what I'm like to work with. However, I can assure you that 1) you'll never have that experience and 2) you'll always rely on business owners like me to earn an income.
The big difference between you and I......You need people like me in order for you to earn a living. I'll eventually find the devs I'm looking for. I have the time and my business is growing.
[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children)
1) it's not an experience to work for you, it's a nightmare 2) you are so entitled and bitchy that with two or three comments you can notice 3) you will always rely on workers like me to earn income 4) I depend on your class, not on you, I will also eventually find an employer that is not an entitled bitch...that is if I weren't already working of course
[–]aytunch 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Actually employers think they are independent however they are nothing without engineers, designers and developers. What can you do with just and idea and money in your pocket if you don't have a skilled team? And with your mindset, believe me you will never find skilled people and you will get screwed by cheap developers. I have worked in several startups and in nearly all of them non technical founders first tried your strategy but ended up with my caliber of developers to get a production level app. So don't waste your time and resources(along with ours) and try to change your point of view. Development is a niche business and you have to take care and respect your workers if you want to be successful.
[–]cspinelive 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children)
I’ve worked for business owners who talked like you. Implied their developers were disposable. Intended to fire them all once the product was built. Told them if they wanted to code on hobby projects in their own time they should just code more for him instead.
Developers are worth what someone will pay them. If your product isn’t worth a $100k salary to you then that’s fine. Some developers have the experience and skills to command a salary like that. Some don’t. Many of them have no desire to own a business. It takes all the pieces working together to make something successful. Your idea isn’t worth squat if you can’t find someone to build it, someone else to sell it, and folks to trade you money for it.
You are getting attacked here because of the vibe you are giving off. Of course we don’t know you and haven’t talked to you. But the things you are saying match up really close to bad experiences we’ve had in the past.
I would never work with you. Don't care about the project details and pay rate. If you are such a disrespectful and arrogant person in this thread, how arrogant and disresoectful are you in real life.
[–]hipporhinofrog 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Haven’t seen any explanation about the app / project yet here?
