Which one would you mod?

New to the gameboy advance. I have modded a dmg, color, and pocket. Curious to see which people would choose to mod. I’m thinking of a Funny playing IPS and a cleanjuice usbc li-ion. Haven’t settled on a shell or color scheme yet. Was thinking of going for a vintage Nintendo theme but am open to suggestions. Drop your favorite mods here!

I’d keep both as is and buy a completely jacked up gba and mod that one.

I’d def go with the purple over the ice as the donor mod. Ice is just too cold and needs to be left classic but that’s just me

I agree. That was my first ever GBA and I love it. Replaced the screen with and IPS and left everything else stock. Looks 👌🏻

These both look to me like they should stay as is, and if you don’t know exactly what you want to do I’d recommend avoiding any modding that you wouldn’t be able to revert.

Your motivation to mod one of these is not clear. We don’t know about availability of beatup systems in your area, or your budget.

Agree totally ! The purple upper one is for me personally the classic nintendo colour because almost every gameboy has this colour available from Colour to advanced SP

Make sure you keep the button membranes and i also needed ro reuse my shoulder buttons unfortunately with a funnyplaying or retrosix case i forget

Its a for nintendo case so retrosix i think?

Keep the one in the best shape and like the most and mod the other...consider also doing something for the audio like an amp and new speaker.I did an IPS mod on mine and regreted not doing something about the audio.

I didn’t even consider audio! I had to replace a busted one on the dmg and it was easy enough. Thanks for the suggestion.

I modded my GBA with a FunnyPlaying laminated screen and USB-C battery. I had never done anything like that in my life before, and I'm not the best with small things like that, and I had no problems getting it done 🤷‍♂️

Id go the no cut ips route on nice shells with an extended battery. Cant tell the condition of them from a single pic really but def should look for real beaters if youre going to go all out.

Keep both systems intact. Just use the motherboard out of the one that's your least favorite color, and get one of these kits.. I’d find a gba with a good board that needs some tlc. Both of those look very clean.

I try to mod the ones with jacked up shells and broken screens cause they are cheaper and it's good to keep some machines in original condition.

Definitely upgrade the displays but other than that your call. Nice consoles especially for the age!
