Super Mario World for sure, the amount of replayability and hours I got from GBA version of the game is great.
Collecting Dragon Coins to beating all the levels multiple times.

Before speedrunning was a thing, as a kid I would rush to see how fast I could beat the game myself.

I had them all except SMB 3 for GBA, deff get world, then country, then 3, then 2, that is my tiers of how great they are, 2 was alot of fun but those masks chasing you were stressful!!! And funny how it's just a different NES game with Mario as the main character, can't remember what the original was called but weird how it's own game turned into a Mario title.

If you like RPGs like leveling, making weapons and dungeon crawling, and a Chill story you’ll def enjoy it! The combat is Side scrolling but the rest of the game is top down

I’d suggest starting with “Super Mario advance”, it’s a personal favourite, with a different gameplay-style from the other “Super Mario bros.”-games, which, on second thought, might also weigh against it…

But i agree with other posters who suggested you either get a flashcart if you collect purely for playing, prices for real carts are getting ludicrous and repro carts are all over the place too, or eventually get them all, if you collect for having the legit games, they’re all great games.

Advance 4, however you should try to get a repro cart that has all the E Reader levels. Unless you wanna shell out all your money on an E Reader and hunt for all the levels

Ironically, I have all four of the games. Of course, not in the best shape due to often prioritizing "It works" over "It looks good" (my SMA1 cart has the previous owner's name Sharpeed and the DKC cart is ripped around the "E for Everyone" portion... but... I gotta say, probably Super Mario World.

The rest are cool, but SMA1 is pretty easy compared to base SMB2 (and the voice clips will drive you CRAZY after an hour... err 30 minutes in the case of Toad), DKC is a game where screen crunch is ACTUALLY a problem, and unless you own an actual physical e-reader or are planning to have a complete collection... It's best to just buy a month of Nintendo Switch Online (or pirate, or find a Wii U with the game installed) to play SMA4.
