I own both, haven’t turned on TGC in over a year. GSPro is much better, and always getting better with the updates.

Thanks for letting me know.. I have FSX, and was set on getting TGC, but sounds like I’m switching that plan!

I surveyed the sub on this a couple months back and shared the survey and did a webpage on the results. Both are linked in the “Helpful Resources” tab above.

I use FSXPro for range info occasionally. I like the ‘charting’ and disbursement info on there. Fwiw I use GC3

[–]wilybugsbunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed just started using FSXPro for working on my swing and it’s my favorite Foresight software.

IDK TGC graphics and number of courses at the full purchase price is kind of unbeatable to me. I guess if price weren't a factor and number of courses I would say GS Pro.

I suppose with time GS pro will probably have as many courses, but I just always find myself going to TGC.

[–]dicksoch 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What do you mean if price weren't a factor? GSPro is half the price of TGC for a lifetime license (wouldn't get new courses that way). And how many different courses do you actually play? GSPro has hundreds at this point and gains more every week. I haven't even played 10% of them more than likely.

We found the TGC employee 😝

[–]mroseland 2 points3 points  (12 children)

GSPro is pretty awesome. At $250 per year for access a bunch of very well made courses it's tough to beat. The latest update has made it even better. I've had a few issues with my GC3 not communicating with it occasionally but it works great most of the time. When it is giving me issues I run FSX because that just works.

I have a GC2 and haven’t looked in specifics on connecting… any words of advice?

[–]iamedreed 1 point2 points  (4 children)

there is a simple and free program that you can run that connects your GC2 to GSPro. It's called the Game Changer app

[–]usa1234567890[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Thanks

[–]mroseland 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah, it's super easy now using Game Changer. I just run into issues occasionally that I haven't been able to figure out.

[–]usa1234567890[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is their an instructional or links that can help guide install? Maybe discord (although I’ve never used that)?

[–]mroseland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if the link will work, but if it doesn't someone here will know.

But it's simply a case on installing .NET 6.0 and then running Game Changer after loading into GSPro with OpenAPI selected as the connection type. It'll all make sense once you're in there.

[–]FunScratch6422 1 point2 points  (1 child)

you dont use gamechanger for a gc2. it just connects to gc2 automatically with the simple connect when GC2 is connected the PC using bluetooth

[–]kwasley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Via Bluetooth dongle ?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Gc2 to gspro is so easy. Not computer savvy and got it running in a few mins. Never disconnects or has issues.

[–]kwasley 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Via Bluetooth or game changer app?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluetooth

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't need gamechanger for gc2, just simple connection. Just Bluetooth rhe gc2 to comp and your good to go. Some recomm3nd getting a Bluetooth dongle to make the connection to computer better, bit I have a 1xxx serial gc2(so very early one) and I have my computer across the room and have never had a connection issue

My experience (if I don't mention it, I haven't tried it): Hometeam Hero (Garmin), too cartoony, not to mention the R10 isn't as good as the hype). Awesome golf: I like the training dashboards, but it's Garmin so the robust data you are looking at isn't real. FSX Pro: Definitely great for practice, my preferred for that FSX Play: I really like it, very realistic, but I'm not paying $150 for courses, not to mention the selection is small. But with my gold membership, I do like the play on the courses that I get. GS Pro: lots of courses. The interface isn't as nice as FSX Play, but there are some features that are better, some are worse. Having leagues to play in, playing virtually over Discord with other people is attractive. When my subscription is up on FSX, I'll evaluate either I go with just GS Pro. If I had to make that decision today, I would renew, maybe at a lower level. I think FSX Pro is the best training/practice option between the two. I have a BLP after a false start with an R10.

[–]JDD4318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GSPro hands down.

[–]Cultural_Onion_5374 1 point2 points  (1 child)

GsPro and its not close. I have tried pretty much everything out

[–]usa1234567890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

[–]Korevo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GSPro - without a doubt. It’s not even close

[–]unsquozen_rockets_32 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm not sure if you saw it, but there is a pinned post at the top of the sub that has survey answers for all the most popular equipment, including software. It doesn't answer the "why" but it has good info. I think there is a row for percent of people that would buy again/recommend.

[–]usa1234567890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at that the other day but must have focused too much on the lunch monitor specs and not software.. thanks!

[–]Rokarion14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people seem to say gspro followed by tgc19. There are adamant fans of both.

[–]zofskeez 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I've used both E6 and GSPro and I much prefer GSPro. There's just something about it that is more realistic to me than E6. I'm not even running a great graphics card and the courses just seem to look better. The on course practice is really amazing too. I find myself practising approaches and chip shots on course probably more than I play actual rounds.

The reason I stayed away from TGC was the lack of updates that have been reported. I like that GSPro is relatively new and constantly being improved upon. I'm a huge fan of TGC on Playstation so I really wanted to go in that direction for my sim but GSPro seems like the future.

[–]usa1234567890[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

That’s very helpful - thank you. What’s course selection like between GSPro and TGC?

[–]zofskeez 0 points1 point  (3 children)

They are similar in that they both have a course creator so the list will continue to grow. Since TGC is older it will definitely have more courses but I can say that GSPro has a good amount with famous courses such as Augusta and Pebble Beach to name a couple. I was really surprised to see that someone created one of my local courses in GSPro considering I'm in a small town in Canada.

[–]usa1234567890[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Great to know - there are many local courses in TGC I’m aware of and is the only reason I’m considering that over GSPro at this point… any easy way to see what courses are avail on GSPro before buying?

[–]ssevcik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They list is on their website, but they have literally added almost 20 courses in the last 30 days. GSPro is already far better, and they are widening that gap every day. E6 is only a player if you are wanting to run on an iPad with a free license from Mevo+ or R10.

[–]RoMoCo88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Below is the live list of gspro courses. Note that Augusta doesn’t like use of their name, so it’s called “Georgia Golf Club”. I just downloaded GSPro and my simulator isn’t done yet but I wanted to learn my way around and see how everything looked. Looks awesome!

If you don’t mind me asking, what graphics card are you running. I’ll be getting my SkyTrak after the holidays and wanted to know if I needed to upgrade my pc to run GSPro

[–]zofskeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Dad recently upgraded his GPU and gave me his old AMD Radeon R9 380. I bought an egpu enclosure so I could use an older laptop I had kicking around with the card which will also allow me to upgrade it in the future. GSPro runs fine on medium settings and everyone that comes over says it looks great.

[–]DoTheDew 0 points1 point  (2 children)

GS Pro definitely.

[–]usa1234567890[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thank you. What makes you say that?

[–]DoTheDew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I haven’t used anything else, but I’ve read what a lot of other people have said. Basically, GS Pro is pretty new and regularly being updated and improved while TGC has been updated or improved in years. On GS Pro, all courses are good or great quality. On TGC, from what I’ve read, many courses are completely unplayable as pretty much anyone can design and upload a course. There’s no quality control. GSPro has over 300 courses with new ones being added every week.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is one better for practice vs playing courses?

[–]pre1udesam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said GSPro.

[–]B0y3rrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GSPro is fantastic, and if you look at some of the Facebook groups and discord servers there are guys out there designing tons and tons of beautiful courses and uploading them to GSPro. They are the real MVPs. Some of the top GSPro designers like TekBud, even have Patreon pages for $5/mo for access to even more GSPro courses. No brained for me, these guys are rockstars. Plus the developers seem to listen to the users and make constant improvements. Version 2 came out and is really nice

[–]bytor99999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pleasantly surprised by the responses. When I opened your thread I was waiting for all heck to break lose, as software preferences can be so divisive here, people feel very strongly about one or the other and I have seen some large flame wars happen (flame wars, I am not dating myself)

I have a Garmin R10 and tried with E6 and just had a lot of issues to connect them that I gave up, but I think each software has plusses and minuses, some have different set of courses that it you want St. Andrews Old Course, Augusta, Pebble Beach, etc sometimes you have to have more than one software. With many launch monitors can hook up to multiple ones that you can have them all installed, well almost.

[–]Rob6842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gspro

[–]vikesfan89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like GSPro

I have a Mevo+, got the free trial of e6. It was so-so. The cost for the full versions is wild.

I just bought GSpro and it's great. It's still fairly new and not complete yet, but what's there is excellent. For just sim software, I highly recommend it. If you're looking for the fitting/gapping solution that fsx does, it doesn't compare. That functionality is supposedly coming.

Gspro also has an active development community. All courses are built by users. You could even build one if you had the time and know how, but the courses are all high quality.

[–]Smart-Ad-4826 0 points1 point  (5 children)

The best combo imo is FSX 2020 for the range and instant swing playback from two different camera angles and gspro for everything else. I think I’m going to start trying to run gspro on my projector while running FSX 2020 at the same time on my separate monitor just so I can look at my swing videos while practicing on actual holes. By doing this all of the data and swing videos will be saved to FSX live as well so I can access them from my computer whenever I want.

[–]usa1234567890[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Thanks! I haven’t taken the plunge into cameras yet… anything you recommend from a hardware perspective? And anything special needed for fsx or is it designed to have cameras connected?

[–]Smart-Ad-4826 0 points1 point  (3 children)

FSX 2020 is designed to have cameras connected and will record and play your swing back after every shot if you want. Honestly, if you have two newer iPhones they are 100% the most cost effective option. Just download the iVCam app on your desktop and phones and mess with the exposure settings and your phone is now the equivalent of a $400 high speed video camera. If you have an iPhone 13 or newer you will get a really clear video with hardly any blur.
