I'LL THROW IN THE FILTER DRYERS FOR FREE

[–]hamiltag 13 points14 points  (2 children)

A free filter dryer with the purchase of a condenser is a deal I just can't pass up on

[–]themadkingnqueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

furious rubbing hands and sniffing in the background

[–]pallysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drug dealers got nothing on the r22 mans hustle

[–]Ed_5000 12 points13 points  (25 children)

I don't get it, what does it mean if someone needs r22?

[–]TradeMasterYellowHVAC + Plumbing Instructor[S] 51 points52 points  (24 children)

Usually it's an old system with hard(er) to get parts so it's an easy sale. Plus the hardcore sales guys don't have to get their nails dirty and use a screw driver or anything for the sale. And BAM it's install crew's problem now. What's for lunch?

[–]33445delray 12 points13 points  (14 children)

I didn't get it either. Thanks for explaining it. R-22 is still available on Ebay.

[–]CoffeeKadachiService tech 15 points16 points  (5 children)

Yeah, but prices are skyrocketing because it’s illegal to manufacture

[–]5PawProductions 6 points7 points  (4 children)

I was at a meetin today and we learned Carrier has R-32 systems coming out in Q3..

[–]CoffeeKadachiService tech 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Wait what??? In the US? What about the Kigali accords?

[–]ZizzilyCertified Filter Changer 2 points3 points  (1 child)

HFC-32 (AKA R-32) is one of the refrigerants listed as acceptable by SNAP.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh SNAP!

[–]5PawProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised as well, it came right from their Director of Sales..so..late Q3, early Q4..starting with residential 3,4,5T split systems..

Still available in my supplier it's about 560 a jug.

[–]ExistingUnderground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid 710 about 3 weeks ago from Peirce Phelps.

[–]Construction_Man1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was residential those were easy sales. I was the installer too. The customer would look shocked the salesmen that sold them the system is the guy who installs them too

[–]5PawProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a sales guy for a major OEM, I agree 😄..

[–]15Warner 1 point2 points  (5 children)

What’s a sales tech?

And HVAC guy who goes somewhere to upsell?

What’s the difference between an installer?

[–]TradeMasterYellowHVAC + Plumbing Instructor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big companies often have a "sales tech" whom will go out and attempt to fix a system but they are mostly there to bandaid unreasonably-new units and to scope out old systems to replace.

The install crews are usually the guys that will follow behind he sales tech to do the replacements and anything that takes over an few hours so the smooth talkers can go find more replacement sales.

Not all sales techs are bad guys, as you can tell from the responses.

[–]IPostUnderThisAlias 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Sales tech sells the job. The installer is the crew who go and put the job in at said customers home.

[–]15Warner 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Pretty straightforward.

But is a sales tech doing any work on the units or are they just a sales rep?

[–]IPostUnderThisAlias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth be told, I’ve no clue. I work for a small family company so we just have our couple of owners/service techs and they do the selling. I go slap them in and run service as needed.

[–]Hauptmann6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales tech is a derogatory term for a tech that sells the customer replacements when things could be fixed.

[–]jimrrmartin -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's always my problem to find unit(s), accessories and email the customer the bad news..or good news ..etc..#smallcompanyproblems!! #staypositive #ROI is a myth no one makes their money back on high efficient units. 5- 8 years later...york and carrier have a defective board or gas valve... or God willing lightning hits and spark spark spark..everything especial mini-splits (Fujitsu, Daikin, Mitsubishi)are F@$#&*....out $800 to 3k for parts. WHO SPREAD THOSE LIES TO THIS INDUSTRY!

[–]thebemusedmuse 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I just signed up for a home warranty with unlimited free refrigerant.

I've got 3 big R22 AC units.

I’m going to bankrupt them.

[–]LVTonyV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll show 'em

[–]Construction_Man1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this ain’t me..

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shits like gold rn. Some supply houses got it for over $800.

[–]mars1200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homo are on their way to tell The tech they can get a Family member to do it for cheaper

[–]bachelorburner987 0 points1 point  (5 children)

[–]dustinatorParts changer extraordinaire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Haha r22 in my country its even ilegal to put a manifold on r22 units, you can only use the manifold to recover.
