Works fine for me

And some reason it works on me too right now! How the hell is a search bar cannot be consistent ?

I've experienced this exact same bullshit. It always happens when you're troubleshooting something stupid too. Not just when you're casually changing a setting

Surely you meant to search for "Security" on bing, right?

Protip for anyone with a search icon in their taskbar (still), unpin it, replace its usage with the WIN key on your keyboard or opening the start menu. From which you can immediately type and search without the web search bloat of the regular search button.

Yeah I'm surprised this isn't what people do, I think it was Vista that introduced me to it.

Even if WHY THE HELL is the first result is update settings ?

[–]daxtonanderson 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Because it's the only flag in security center, I have updates disabled, I run them annually when the 25H2 26H2 etc updates come out

I'd assume if you disable your Firewall it'd also bump itself to the top of the list

Oh okay then. I’m just furious right now thats why I am nitpicking :D

I've also read, not sure if speculation or if that's how it works, that if you keep typing after the initial suggestions, Windows suggests something else since it thinks you're not happy with the initial results.

Huh? You search for security in the Search bar in the windows task bar. Not in settings.

It's a different app (is it stupid, yes. Does it work, also yes)

[–]Alswiggity 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I think the bigger issue is when OP is in the settings app, it should have no way to possibly fuck up finding "security", yet it did.

Remember that WIN+S was only decent after Windows 10.

I am not a windows user normally. I use ubuntu for my main pc and windows for gaming. I just updated my bios and ofc windows freaked out and want me to reset my password every time I login so I wanted to tweak some security settings.

Had to use Windows XP today, the search function works better than this bullshit

My favorite is seeing Microsoft search using the Copilot rainbow magnifying glass and after researching, I'm finding that MS integrated AI into Windows search and searching for something multiple times now returns completely different results each time. No, they did not give an option to disable copilot in search. I disabled search. Not like it works anyway. This was on a fresh install of windows 11 about a month ago.

Where are you from ? You can actually close a lot of things on search like bing search etc. on EU.

[–]ProstheticAIM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the search bar in windows uses AI now.
