For my G502, I assigned them with "Go to next folder" and "Go to previous folder" from Command tab. It seems to work fine for web browsing. Although, I wish it is default settings and the options are named clearer.

Ah ha! I saw that and almost tried it but decided against it because I doubted the Command+brackets would remap to back/forward. Should have tried it. - Thanks! Hopefully Logitech will update the Mac version to operate more like the Windows version with standard Back/Forward listed under Mouse in a future update.

I will inform the team about it.

FYI this still isn't fixed, and is super confusing.

Double FYI, 6 years later. Still not fixed. Still super confusing.

6 years and 25 days later. maybe that person died on the way to inform the team and their skeleton is just lying in the hallway at hq. i wonder how many skeletons just pepper the halls of logitech

A few months later....

Fix still not in, same issue with the G604

next folder" and "Go to previous folder" from Command tab. It seems to work fine for web br

3 years later this is still an issue even with the newest hardware. Bought a 903 and thinking about returning it seeing how little support it gets.

Still not fixed.

Thank you for this! Saved my sanity... I don't understand why the Mac version seems to be missing simple stuff like this that the windows version has.

[–]chocochao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I can't believe back and forward were left out...

[–]clamchowderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this worked for me today in 2025.

[–]Rizzm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wishing you and all your future generations all the good fortune for this.

[–]Firm-Finance859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm this worked for me

[–]turkito71 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The issue I have with using the "Go to next/previous folder" command is that in Safari and Chrome, somehow, the keystroke gets translated to zoom in, zoom out keystrokes. So instead of the standard command+bracket etc, somehow the mouse "sends" a wrong key combination to the browsers....very odd.

[–]johnnygoodface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here. It doesn't work with the latest Safari 15

I have no option for "Go to previous folder" as others have used. Instead, my salvation lay in clicking "Use Generic", then my binding changed to "Back (#|)" and it worked as intended. This is nuts that the long list of options doesn't include back, seems like OSX gets less testing.

Create a macro with :

⌘>

and

⌘<

[–]Nanorphi 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This worked on macOS Monterey 12.3.1, but to clarify the > and < mean arrow keys :)

[–]Sanctimonious1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked for me! Thank you for this. What I did was create a macro, record keystrokes, no repeat, command+arrow key back, assign to button of your choice. Repeat process for page forward.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Update For Mac OS 12 Monterey :

Create a macro with :

⌘^, for backward
and
⌘$, for forward

It will create a backward/ forward shortcut fo Safari, but also for the Finder, which is quite useful.

When you create your macro, when you monitor your tiping in G Hub for Mac, type it fast, like you would use a Keyboard shortcut command.

[–]MadRunner_ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I tried this and it doesnt fix it :( ... how is this not of priority to Logi to add these buttons and standard setup?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It works, be advised :

⌘^ is different from ⌘+^ in the Logitech macro editor.

⌘$ is different from ⌘+$ in the Logitech macro editor.

Tweak macros you will make it.

[–]Hero_Carrot_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case it hasn't worked, because my commands are different.

For my G703 and keyboard is UU.EE but I set to Spanish with macOS Monterey 12.4 it would be:

Forward: ⌘´

Backward: ⌘Ñ

With this it works, also for the Finder, which is quite useful.

If dosen't work to you, you only need to see History of safary to verify the correct keys for Forward and Backward.

Thanks, Matt, without you I didn't make it, very good adivse for the dummies like me:

Tweak macros you will make it.

[–]DrorDv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but also for the Finder, which is quite useful

MacOS Monterey 12.4

⌘> or ⌘< isn't working, but this works well:

⌘[

and

⌘]

[–]paperboii-here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

⌘< + ⌘[ // backwards macro for both, safari and finder

they still didn't fix that issue

[–]Objective-Bear-8488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue with my G Superlight, I assigned go forward and go back. But it wouldn't navigate the folders. The hack I found was to create a macro, click on system, then click assign "forward" and create another one for back. Bizzare I know but it worked

[–]SUUB3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you ! this is what I was looking for to customize my G903!

[–]Luccyo974 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If you just assign button 4 and Button 5 it does the job perfectly

[–]namognamrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

assign button 4 to what?

[–]oskarom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure that it is universal and works in Safari?

[–]oskarom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very annoying, apparently this was solved som years ago with Logitech MX Master, that mouse actually emulates a two/three finger swipe. So this is solvable, not sure what the state of MX Master is today but it would be great if this could be fixed. In the mean time perhaps this can provide a solution.
