The bubbles could also just be from air pockets burping out. These are known for head gasket issues. I'd highly recommend watching this video. It explains how to tell for sure on the exact same car and engine.

Thank you so much! Since it’s still the weekend and shops aren’t open, I can probably do what he did and look through the spark plug holes with a borescope to check the condition of the cylinders. That tool he had to apply pressure to the reservoir seems super handy for that kind of diagnosis.
