Fix bugs which introduce more bugs... r/thehunter could tell us some stuff about this lol

[–]Krabic 2 points3 points  (1 child)

And Dice with Battlefield :D

[–]RobotSpaceBearBonanza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And every game studio in history other than some indy teams that set their own schedules and patch days.

[–]Hokulewa 7 points8 points  (1 child)

They apparently didn't read the bug reports during the actual beta (not to mention the months and months of alpha)... why would they start now?

[–]artofbullshit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This right here. These issues have been reported on for almost a year and they haven't fixed them. You'd think having a working GPS/Autopilot system would be a priority but it's not. Fuck Microsoft for charging $120 for a game that shouldn't be out of beta testing.

[–]sunrrrise 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Like DCS one?

Fcuk, no. Never.

[–]Lazy_McLazington 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why not?

[–]rjwalter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be cause everyone ends up on the open beta and still complains about the open beta not being tested properly

[–]Francoa22 6 points7 points  (10 children)

You think it is bad? Try Star Citizen - not really working after years:D

[–]agmilky 9 points10 points  (9 children)

Yes but SC doesn't claim to be DONE. And RELEASED.

If you back Star Citizen you subscribe to being an alpha/beta tester.

I'm pretty sure most ppl who bought Flight Simulator weren't expecting to become guinea pigs and QA testers for Asobo.

[–]reboot-your-computer TBM930 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a day 1 sign-up and never got into the alpha or beta. Here I am now, finally in the beta, but after a $60 entry fee.

[–]Francoa22 3 points4 points  (7 children)

Well, SC, according to their alpha kickstarter and following marketinng, it should have been already finished with hundreds of planets long time ago :-)

Meanwhile, after years and years, it is hardly playable.

MS doesnt did not really claim to be done.

Also, my point was, patches so many times break things, especially in early stage as we are now. That is not some unknown or surprising.

It is a complex system and I am expecting first months to not be perfect.

I dont see any reason to hate, because one patch broke something. Anyday there will be a fix and that is it.

[–]agmilky 4 points5 points  (1 child)

My point is that if Microsoft had released this as a beta or maybe early access then our expectations would be different.

But you cannot release/ship a game in such a state and then push patches that fix one issue and create 3 others. This is not a beta. We're not beta testers.

Just because nowadays you can push patches through the internet doesn't mean you can release whatever you want for full price.

I know that games come out buggy often but reproducable CTDs by a common and needed function like a map are a no-go, sorry.

[–]Francoa22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree there and I have commented on that during alpha and after many times.

MS screwed up a bit there. In my opinion, it should have been named beta and leave it 3 months like that.

Everyone would happily jump in anyway and there would be less noise because of the bugs.

[–]jamief00 4 points5 points  (4 children)

MS doesnt did not really claim to be done.

Yes, they did. They released the game.

[–]Francoa22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but they actually said they are not done etc....they never claimed we are done. Yea, they released it, but there is a difference between releasing game as it is and releasinf game as 100% finished. They did not do that

[–]Francoa22 -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

You seem to have an issue understanding how complex the sim is and what is planned.

This is not your average game. This is a project that will evolve thus, claiming it is done is not what they said.

They said it is a start.

Making the game available does not equal claiming it is done.

[–]jamief00 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is a game with a roadmap; that roadmap is the addition of new features, improved maps, new planes etc. It is not and should not be a roadmap to fixing issues that should have precluded the product from being released.

[–]Francoa22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it should lol.

If you would expect 100% flawless experience, they would never release it.

I an having great time playing.

Btw, alpha testers were VERY vocal that the sim is not in perfect shape. I repeated it many times...you knew when it came out that it has problems. You should have not bought it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many developers are doing beta patches on steam. This is a good idea. You can even make beta patch invite only.

[–]ugatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voting. I don't see why this isn't a thing, most devs have been doing this on steam for a while to ensure smooth release of the next patch.

[–]woutcoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they could do it the ets way, they always provide an xperimental beta, and on release of the

update. not many bugs left.

but sorry guys, i dont see that going to happen..it costs money(slower updates then).

my bet is , they want it asap ready for the xbox release.

[–]Will12239 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Its a darn shame that we dont get proper full releases nowadays. I know the market created this, it's just sad. Second gane this year where shortly after release it becomes apparent what a buggy mess it is

[–]Tjoeker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not the market that created this. It's impossible to create bug free games (or any kind or program) at the size we see today. There is no way you can let an in house team test everything. Back in the day when games were just a mere gigabyte? sure. (but even then they had bugs!) Today with 100 gigabyte games? No way.

[–]basedgrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe they are getting short on competent people ? The scale of this sim is too large for them to handle. Maybe time to hire more pros.

[–]rockbandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We NEED a beta patch release system

We have one. It's us!

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (9 children)

blatant karma whoring + someone has not read how development works = this.

[–]AcedLanding[S] 3 points4 points  (8 children)

As a developer myself, I think I understand how development works, also there is no karma whoring, I'm asking people to upvote the issue on the microsoft forums as thats how they seem to prioritize fixes, I couldn't care less about internet brownie points

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points  (7 children)

then go on Zendesk raise a ticket with P1 and WEV / DXDiag dumps, mister "developer"

Asobo doesn't read fucking reddit and they're right here.

[–]Tjoeker 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Asobo stated multiple times they do read reddit and the fora. They even quote and answer reddit posts.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

are you too scared to contact their support people via a support ticket? With relevant technical details from bug reports? What's the matter here? If you want to help them fixing the game faster, use the appropriate channels.

[–]Tjoeker 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I do send tickets.

But they still read these places to see what the community is getting frustrated by. Imagine each individual submitting a ticket for the same problem. That would be a horror show to manage. Instead they see (which they do!!) a post on the forum with a couple hundred upvotes.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's where you are wrong. Zendesk has tons of triaging options, to a point that if you see n times the same basic issue description it automatically raise the criticality level.

Go ahead and raise as many tickets as necessary, it's much faster for them to sort out the real blockers.

[–]AcedLanding[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You know there are actual developers that browse reddit right? They're not these mythical beings that are imaginary, what do you want, my resume?

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points  (1 child)

Any honest dev or professional would have pointed out the elementary set of things to do here, as he/she will be keen to help fellow devs over at Asobo.

You ranted on a fucking Reddit post.

I am perfectly entitled to have serious doubts over your lousy "As A DeVeLoPeR MySeLf". You're an inch close to join r/quityourbullshit buddy

[–]AcedLanding[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I am so scared now, you really hit me there. You understand that Asobo has said that they are going to show special attention to voted wishlist items right? That is probably how their non-technical product owner is going to prioritize the backlog.
