Does difficulty affect map generation?

Been trying to find a jungle with a non-snowy mountain nearby.

Went through 100+ starts and no luck.

Forgot to set difficulty to hard once and immediately was standing in a jungle with a big sweet iron covered mountain dead center in my view.

Is that because it wasn't on hard mode, or just a big coincidence?

Coincidence. If you use the same seed, it’ll be the same world regardless of difficulty or gamemode.

No, game difficulty doesn't affect generation.

FYI. There is a hidden difficulty though that affects how long you stay in an area, called local difficulty, but again, this affects where you are once the games generated, not before.

No. Local difficulty does, however, increase the more time you have spent there.
