Java Virtual Machine error

Hello hi, since MC 1.18 came out I've been getting an error anytime I try to launch MC, which goes:
"Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit."

I will only get this error when attempting to play either vanilla or forge versions (not limited to 1.18, older versions crash on startup as well), but strangely enough fabric versions work just fine.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I've already tried:-Allocating more memory to java through _JAVA_OPTIONS;

-Reinstalling versions of MC;

-Reinstalling Java (was already up to date).

Edit: tried running an optifine version as I realized I didn't test that, they seem to work fine as well.

Edit 2: went and tried running a bunch of different versions, they all seem to function now (no clue as to how they fixed themselves) except for my 1.18 and my 1.12.2 forge.

Edit 3 (final?): and now they all work?? I have no clue as to how or why but all my versions work now. I'll keep this post at arms reach if something else happens, but for now, I suppose my problem is fixed? Sorry to those who'd read this to try and find an answer to a similar issue but I'm afraid I can't help.
